When Grace Sings Book Review

I have a book I would love to share with you called When Grace Sings written by Kim Vogel Sawyer. I always know when I get one of her books that I am in for a treat and this one did not disappoint me!

Synopsis:
When trouble roars into quiet Arborville, Alexa and Anna-Grace find themselves the target for discord and exposed secrets. Can they continue to seek the God of all grace amidst the fog of confusion?
Alexa Zimmerman wonders if the Old Order Mennonite community in Arborville, Kansas will ever fully accept her. Her family roots here aren’t what anyone thought when she first arrived, but she is hopeful that her culinary and hospitality skills will win the skeptics over. The bed-and-breakfast she’s operating needs to succeed so Alexa agrees to allow Briley Forrester, the hotshot reporter from Chicago, to stay as a long-term boarder not knowing his real motives for being amongst the Plain folk.

But when Alexa agrees to host her cousin Anna-Grace Braun, the presence of extended family brings out Alexa’s insecurities and sets Briley on the trail to uncovering a web of hidden truths.

Plans for a secure future and the sweetness of young romance hang in the balance when Alexa and Anna-Grace have to face that their secrets are interconnected, binding the two in ways they could not have imagined. They must trust in a loving, heavenly Father and His plan for their futures.

My Thoughts:

There is a lot of chaos going on at the Bed and Breakfast Inn that Alexa is putting all her hopes and dreams on. There are secrets that were kept from her and her cousin, Anna-Grace that will send each one of them into a tailspin.

There is a budding romance going on also for Anna-Grace but her beau, Stephen is having his own problems trying to decide what he wants to do with his life. He really wants to be a teacher but his parents are putting pressure on him to be a farmer.

There is also a person who has been taking Alexa's hospitality but has plans to make the people there look bad, so it's going to be a bumpy ride for everyone for awhile until things get settled.

The good thing is that Alexa and Anna-Grace put their faith in their God and things have a way of working out when you do that!

Happy Reading!

A Simple Prayer Book Review

If you love reading about the Amish, then you will love this new story from Amy Clipston called A Simple Prayer.

Synopsis:
Linda is no stranger to hardship. Now she dares to hope for a chance at love and a new beginning.
As the sole survivor of a buggy accident that left her orphaned at age four, Linda Zook was reluctantly raised by her Uncle Reuben. She longs to be worthy of someone, but the lasting trauma of her injuries and embittered upbringing have destroyed her self-worth. When Hannah Peterson asks her to work at the Heart of Paradise Bed & Breakfast, she’s finally able to realize some confidence.

Aaron Ebersol left the Amish community seventeen years ago when he could no longer bear the restrictions or the constant tension with his father. Despite years of unanswered letters to his parents and the roots he’s put down in Missouri, Aaron rushes back to the Amish community of Paradise, Pennsylvania, after receiving word of his mother’s stroke. Hesitant to get too close to the family he was once a part of, he decides to stay at the Heart of Paradise Bed & Breakfast. Talking with Linda allows him to explore his feelings about his family and his position in the Amish community.

As Linda and Aaron open up to each other, their feelings for one another turn into more than friendship, and Aaron must make a decision about his future as an Amish man.

Can Linda and Aaron forgive the family members who have deceived and forsaken them? And will Aaron be able to convince Linda that she is worthy of his love?

My Thoughts:

I thought as I was reading this story that it really doesn't matter what we believe in, because we all have suffered at one time or another and we all love and get hurt, so it's no different here in this Amish community.

We are only human so we do end up making mistakes and like all mistakes, I think anything is possible and forgiveness is within anyone's grasp if they keep asking for it. Sometimes, I know you may not get it, but you are the better person for asking for it, so in the end, I think it makes you a better person because you learned from your mistakes.

Both Linda and Aaron will need that lesson in this story to overcome some great unfairness that was done to each of them, but in doing so, they will open up their hearts to each other and will be rewarded in ways that will enrich their lives.

This is one book and lesson you won't want to miss!

Happy Reading!

A Heart's Danger Book Review

I have another great book to share with you called A Heart's Danger written by Colleen Coble and it's Book 3 in the Journey of the Heart series.

Synopsis:
On the brink of war with the Sioux, Sarah risks everything to expose the betrayal threatening the man she loves.
Christmas is coming, and the air at Fort Laramie has turned cold . . . but relations with the Sioux have turned colder. As tensions between soldiers and natives approach a tipping point, a trap has been set for Rand Campbell.
Rand’s new fiancĂ©e wants to keep him from returning to Sarah Montgomery . . . for whom his heart clearly still yearns.
Sarah just wants to move on with her life at Fort Laramie, but doing so under the watchful eyes of both Campbell—the man whose love she craves—and Croftner—the man whose lies have cost her everything.
Will Rand fall victim to the conspiracy and go through with his wedding? Or will he declare his love for Sarah and make good on the promises that brought her into the rugged western territories?
Purchase your copy on Amazon.

My Thoughts:

This was a great conclusion to a story that spanned over three books and took the reader on a trip worth spending every minute wondering if Sarah and Rand would ever get to be together with so much evil things going on and evil people trying to keep them apart.

The new woman in Rand's life tried her best to get Sarah killed but I love it when a plan falls apart, don't you?

This is a heartwarming story of what good people can overcome if they stay the course and don't let others interfere in their lives. I sometimes wonder myself how some people can get so twisted up in things but it's usually because they let others do the thinking for them and they just follow along for the ride.

Once again, Colleen Coble has given us a truly great love story to savor over and to read again and again!

Happy Reading!

April Snow Book Review

I have a really good book I wanted to share with all of you today called April Snow written by Lynn Steward. I think you will love this book because it's about the fashion industry back in the 1970's when women were wearing a wide range of clothing that expressed who they were or thought they were!

Synopsis:
At the cutting edge of women's fashion in the 1970s, a visionary young woman subdues her desire for love to remake retail at New York's most glamorous department store.
Newly single, Dana McGarry learns she must divorce herself from more than a bad marriage to succeed.
Not only must she prove to family and friends that she can make it on her own, but she also must challenge an antagonistic boss who keeps standing in her way. Moving out of her comfort zone and into the arms of a dynamic businessman, Dana bets it all on a daring new move that will advance her buying career,  but at what price?
Her dreams within reach, Dana's world is shattered in a New York minute when a life is threatened, a secret is revealed, and her heart is broken.
Purchase your copy on Amazon.

My Thoughts:

Well, I didn't know that when I agreed to review this book that it was actually the 2nd book in a series about Dana McGarry, but I was still able to somewhat figure out who she was and where she was trying to go, but it would have really helped if I had read the first book.

Gosh, if the fashion world is as bad as this book portrays it to be, I wouldn't go anywhere near it! People are backstabbing each other and the men are all looking to have sex with the next new model who is the "it" girl. Which is how Dana's own marriage dissolved because her husband had been cheating on her.

Dana isn't a model, but a designer and she really does seem to have some really seem to care too much about the behind scenes, she just wants to succeed and she thinks she can by creating a new line based on the British line at B. Altman's. She does have an adversary there who doesn't want her to succeed, so it does get a little tense while Altman gives it some thought.

Dana has fallen in love with a millionaire by the name of Mark, but he doesn't tell her the truth about some things and those lies will catch up with him and they will seriously crack Dana's fragile state of mind.

Can she work thru all the turmoil in her life right now and come out on the other side and get some of the things that she wants? Time will tell.

Happy Reading!

Finding the Right Hotel for You While Travelling

Finding the Right Hotel in Boston Simplifies the Travel Experience

Traveling to different cities is a great way to experience a number of different venues. Whether vacationers are planning the ultimate road trip or flying into a location for a special weekend, finding the perfect hotel simplifies the travel experience. Hotels in Boston have a lot to offer travelers of every budget level, which means selecting one prior to actually making the trip can often be the difference between a hassle free enjoyable stay and frenzied rushing from place to place. Just like any travel planning experience, the right hotel comes down to a number of factors.

Location

Vising any city or metropolitan area allows travelers to experience a variety of different districts. Since Boston is a major city, the location of a hotel impacts nightly rates. In short, properties located close to popular attractions cost more and are more difficult to book because they are popular with visitors. Booking a hotel farther away from these destinations can save money, but will require the use of public transportation to see the various sights.

Price

Price is a deciding factor for many travelers when selecting a hotel. With a number of options from boutique hotels to chain hotels to hostels, Boston has the perfect location for travelers regardless of the budget for the trip. Since price can vary greatly on the location of the hotel, travelers that use travel apps and planning websites can uncover substantial savings based on dates, timing of the trip, and any number of external factors. Having a budget and sticking to it is usually the best way to uncover the best price on a hotel in Boston.

Offerings

Travelers have a variety of different needs. Finding a hotel with an included breakfast, workout facility, pool, transportation, and more could be the deciding factor in choosing where to stay. Planning sites, like Hipmunk, are virtual fountains of information for travelers looking to evaluate the offerings of a number of hotels quickly. These planning websites offer up information on amenities, price, location, and nearby attractions, which can smooth the planning process. Finding a property with the right combination of offerings will make the trip much more memorable and enjoyable.

Purpose of Visit

The purpose of the trip can be an important factor in deciding on a hotel. For example, travelers attending a conference and vacationers looking to sight-see are going to choose a hotel for vastly different reasons. Staying close to the conference is important for certain travelers, but escaping for the weekend could mean choosing a hotel close to a number of tourist attractions. Boston has a number of historical locations, which means staying convenient to one of them is easier than most people think.

In the end, planning a trip to Boston and finding a great hotel comes down to a number of personal tastes. Making an informed decision on the specific hotel requires a period of shopping to find the best location with the right price, offerings, location, and fits the purpose of visit well. Using an online planning site that provides answers to all the questions makes sure all the bases are covered and all the variables are removed from the equation. After all, choosing the right hotel for any trip to Boston can simplify the travel experience.

At the Sharp End of Lightning Book Review

NR Bates

At The Sharp End of Lightning by NR Bates:

Category: Epic Fantasy, Magic Realism, Literary Fiction, Celtic Mythology,  History
Tour Date: May/June, 2015
Available in: Print & ebook, 239 Pages

Synopsis:
AT THE SHARP END OF LIGHTNING is the  tale of family, of loss and sacrifice, of unexpected gifts and coping with disability and new abilities set against the backdrop of climate change occurring across parallel worlds. The intertwined worlds of Oceanlight and Earth are no longer hidden from view of each other. In one realm, Yalara Narika, a winged Sea Sprite, searches for her family and she encounters a deadly blue haze at sea. Escaping the poison makes her realize that her world, Oceanlight, is experiencing sudden and catastrophic environmental change.
Meanwhile, in the safe suburban normality of North Wales, Einion Morgan Alban, a restless youth with haemophilia, is nearly murdered by a man in a white suit who intentionally shoves him off a cliff. If Yalara and Einion don’t uncover the connections between their worlds and near-deaths, it will have dire consequences for the worlds they live in. Book one of the OCEANLIGHT series.
My Thoughts:

This was actually a great story to read once I got past the first chapter or two. It does go into too much background explanation that I didn't really understand (it might have just been me as I like to get right to the story), but after that, I really enjoyed the book so much that I hated to set it down when I needed to do errands or make meals.

If you love reading great YA Fantasy books, then this one will definitely peak your interest. It was really just beginning to get juicy when suddenly it ended and you will have to read the next book to get some much needed answers or just more juicy story lines! I am hoping that I get to read the next one as it did peak my interest and I will have to make sure I don't forget to look for the sequel.

There are several characters you will be following in this story, so please make sure to remember them and what their experiences have been so that it all makes sense in the next book. It is a unique take on several mystical creatures so you won't want to miss this series!

Happy Reading!

The Last Witness Book Review

The Last Witness by Jerry Amernic
on Tour May 2015

cover
Book Details:

Genre: Historical Thriller
Published by: Story Merchant Books
Publication Date: October 29th 2014
Number of Pages: 334
ISBN: 9780990421658

Synopsis:

The year is 2039, and Jack Fisher is the last living survivor of the Holocaust.

Set in a world that is abysmally complacent about events of the last century, Jack is a 100-year-old man whose worst memories took place before he was 5. His story hearkens back to the Jewish ghetto of his birth and to Auschwitz where, as a little boy, he had to fend for himself to survive after losing his family.

Jack becomes the central figure in a missing-person investigation when his granddaughter suddenly disappears. While assisting police, he finds himself in danger and must reach into the darkest corners of his memory to come out alive.

My Thoughts:

I think everyone should read this book and never forget that this really happened! In this particular story, it's set into the future where hardly anyone believes that this really happened. I can't even imagine how in the world you could erase history and nobody would care!

I, myself, know that it did because my father was in the Army back in the 50's and 60's and we spent 2 tours over there and as a child, I visited those concentration camps. Once with a school project and once with my girl scout team. I personally saw the ovens and nothing can prepare you for that sight!

So, this book struck a nerve with me that somehow, someway in the future, that people are going to deny that this happened is totally absurd and wrong. That is almost like saying the Civil War never happened and we have plenty of proof that it did as we do with 6 million Jews being murdered.

I don't see how you could possibly get rid of all the evidence, but if that somehow happened, I would hope people would stand up and say, "Wait a darn minute, I know it happened!"

This story is about a society who wants to forget and a group of vigilant Neo-Nazi's who want to get rid of the last survivors of the Holocaust. It's a compelling story and I hope everyone reads this book, because it's scary to think that somehow this might actually happen!

Happy Reading!

Read an excerpt:

Chapter 1
New York City, 2035

He was a tough sort. Ninety-five years old with elastic skin stretched across his bones like taut canvas, he was supposed to be an easy mark. Fragile and weak. A pushover. Albert Freedman lived by himself in a flat on the upper East Side, and when they came for him they didn’t expect any trouble. Albert knew something wasn’t right when the second one walked in, but the voice was soft and reassuring.
“We’re here to change your palm reader,” he said through the door. We’re doing all the apartments on your floor today and you’re the first. It won’t take five minutes.”
“You’re here to change my what?”
“Your palm reader.”
“I donno what yer talkin’ about. Go away!”
“You don’t understand. There’s a problem with the sensor. You know, the thing that opens your door when you put your hand in front of it? The palm reader?”
“What?”
“It scans your hand. Your print. Then it lets you in.”
Nothing.
“Look,” the man said, more softly now. “Mr. Freedman? You are Albert Freedman, aren’t you?”
“Yes.”
“I realize you don’t want to be bothered but this is for your security. It’s like putting a new lock on the door.”
“A new lock?”
“That’s right. The sensor in your palm reader is ten years old.”
“It is?”
“The year’s inscribed on the side of the door. It says 2025. See for yourself.”
Albert looked, but he didn’t see anything. His eyes weren’t good. “Where does it say that?” he said.
“On the side of the door. It might be hard to read. The numbers are small.”
“Where are they?”
“Trust me. The thing is ten years old and it’s not working right. But we have new ones now that are much better. But it’s not only that. You see there was a break-in last week and they want everyone’s palm reader changed. That’s why we’re here. You’re the first one on our list, Mr. Freedman. We’ll be done in five minutes. Can we come in?”
“Five minutes you say?”
“That’s all it takes.”
He started jiggling the latch from the inside and then he stopped. “Wait a minute. Why am I the first one? This isn’t the first flat on the floor. You should be down at the end of the hall. Unless you’re doing it alphabetically and then you wouldn’t be starting with me. Why am I the first one?”
He was ninety-five years old. He wasn’t supposed to be asking questions like that. He was just supposed to open the door so they could kill him and make it look like a robbery.
There was an audible sigh from outside the door. “Look Mr. Freedman. It's like this. Doing all these sensors isn’t going to be much fun for us but the landlord said you’re a nice guy and we thought we’d start with you.”
At first nothing and then the jiggling from inside the door started again.
“All right. Come in. But make it fast.”
Albert released the latch that was linked to a sensor that had nothing wrong with it in a building where there had been no break-ins the past week, the past month or the past year. The first man through the door was short and slight, thirtyish with close-cropped hair and a soothing voice. He had a tattoo on his arm that looked like a snake, and if Albert had seen that he wouldn’t have opened the door. But then it was too late.
“Thank you,” the man said with a disarming smile.
The one behind him, younger and bigger with straggly hair and brown skin, burst through the door and pushed Albert out of the way. Old Albert fell against the wall and managed to brace himself with his hand, but the sudden impact jarred his wrist. The arthritis. Then the girl appeared, tall and skinny, dressed in black. Albert never got a good look at their faces, but it didn’t matter. He would be dead before they left.
“Where do you keep the money?” the girl screamed at him. “Tell us!
The small slim man with the snake on his arm turned, retreated into the hallway and closed the door behind him. In his hand was a little gadget with a screen on it. He touched the screen and a list of names came up. He ran his fingertip over the last name – Albert Freedman’s name – and it disappeared. Then he was gone.
The girl began riffling through Albert’s cupboards and drawers. Albert was confused. He didn’t get many visitors.
“Where do you keep the money?” the girl said again.
“What do you want?”
“Your money!”
The man who was now inside Albert’s flat didn’t waste any time. He came for him with his fists clenched. He hit him in the face and knocked him to the floor. Albert fell on his side, his hip, but was close enough to the door so he could reach behind it for his cane. The one with the heavy metal handle. He always kept it there.
Blood dripping from his nose, he scrambled to his knees, brought the cane back over his head, and with every ounce of strength he had walloped the intruder or thief or whatever he was across the ankles. There was a loud cry, but Albert wasn’t finished. He got to his feet, straightened up, and brought his cane back a second time. Now he turned on the girl and landed that metal handle square on the back of her shoulders.
“I’ll kill you both!” he said.
But Albert was old and the man was enraged now. He tore the cane from Albert’s hands and started hitting him with it. He hit him on the head. He hit him on the chest. He hit him on the arms. Albert tried to shield himself with his flailing hands, but the blows were relentless. They kept coming and coming and coming. The girl was going through his drawers, throwing everything she found on the floor. Albert always kept his place neat and he didn’t like that, but he could barely see through his eyes now.
“Here’s his wallet,” she said. “Get it over with.”
The beating took less than a minute. Albert, barely conscious, lay on the floor, bloodied and battered to a pulp, a near corpse of broken bones. He couldn’t move and the only thing to feel was pain. The man with the brown skin and straggly hair turned him over so he was face down and all there was to see was the cold dusty floor. It was the last thing Albert would see in his ninety-five years. He sniffed at the acrid air as a knee went deep into his back and the cane came up under his chin. Albert gurgled a few times, there was a crack, and his body went limp.

 QUMRAN

Jerry Amernic's next novel QUMRAN is a biblical-historical thriller about an archeologist who makes a dramatic discovery in the Holy Land. It’s something that could set the world on its edge.

He is both an atheist and an expert on the Romans, but this find more than upsets his logical theory of the universe, leading to a struggle between science and religion. Indeed, this intersection where science meets religion is the theme of the novel.

In historical flashbacks, we see him as a young archeology student who helps discover the Dead Sea Scrolls at Qumran, just off the Dead Sea, and it happens when the State of Israel is being created.

Later, he gets involved with investigating the legends of the Holy Grail and Holy Shroud of Turin, and each time out another Arab-Israeli war is tearing the Middle East apart.

Throw in his close friend who is a brilliant Egyptian pathologist, along with his Israeli research assistant and his wife who is an authority on ancient languages and you have a foursome standing against the world.

But the new discovery must be studied in secret. Or all Hell will break loose.

Fragile Reign Book Review

I don't know if you guys remember the Mortal Enchantment series that I have been reading and reviewing, but this is the newest book in the series and the 3rd book, called Fragile Reign written by Stacey O'Neale.

Synopsis:
It's been a week since all hell broke loose...

Rumors of King Taron's weakened powers have left the air court vulnerable. Kalin is desperate to awaken her akasha powers, except she doesn't know how. Tension within the court is at an all-time high. Pressure is mounting for her to ascend to the throne, but a halfling has never ruled over any court. To solidify her position, the council has advised her to marry Sebastian--a high ranking air elemental she's never met and her betrothed.

Will Kalin sacrifice her relationship with Rowan to strengthen her court?

Rowan and Marcus return to a fire court in turmoil. Liana's death has fueled the fire elementals' distrust against the air and woodland courts. The unbalanced elements have set off natural disasters all over the mortal world. Rowan takes the throne to restore balance, promising to unite the fire court. But not all elementals are happy with his leadership. Many are secretly loyal to Valac, which means Rowan needs to find allies for his cause.

Can Rowan unify the court of fire before the elements destroy the world?

My Thoughts:

I have loved this series from the beginning! I have read all three books now and there is a fourth book coming that hopefully solve some of Rowan and Kalin's problems. But, in Fragile Reign, things are pretty dire and anything can go wrong with Valac loose.

It's a great love story that has a lot of bumps on the road, not the least of which who will bring the Elementals together and stop all the craziness that Valac has started.

If you have read the first two books, The Shadow Prince and Mortal Enchantment, then this 3rd book will excite you even more because Kalin, the halfling who everyone has underestimated, actually has the power to do more harm or good then any of them put together.

When she finally accepts that she is indeed the Akasha and has the power to stop the evil that is coming from Valac, it will cost her dearly. What will she do?

That will become evident in the new book, called Eternal Sacrifice, the 4th book in the series. I can't wait to read what happens!

Happy Reading!

The Nightshade Forensic Files: Under Dark Skies Book Review

I have a rather unusual book to share with you that I think you will love as much as I did once I really got into reading it and became obsessed with getting it read as fast as I could! It's called Under Dark Skies, Book 1 in the Nightshade Forensic Files written by A.J. Scudiere.

Synopsis:
In NightShade nothing is as it seems . . . Eleri Eames thinks her life is getting back on track. She didn’t think she’d ever be allowed to work for the FBI again, so the special FBI division of NightShade seems like an amazing opportunity. But Eleri is concerned to learn that she tested into the unit when she didn’t even know she was being tested.
All too soon, her chance to start over starts to disturb her. When the FBI offers Donovan a chance to leave his job as a medical examiner and try his hand at something new, he takes a chance on the NightShade division. Having spent his life in the shadows, he’s not sure he can successfully work in a team.
Somehow, he has to try, but can he trust Eleri with the truth? Thrown together to solve their first case, Eleri and Donovan must deal with a charismatic cult leader and true-believers, all hidden in the wilds of Texas. The cult is mixed up with several decade-old kidnapping cases and Eleri and Donovan don’t have high hopes for finding the missing daughter of a prominent FBI Agent.
When their orders get more specific, neither is sure they can do what’s been asked, especially when they discover that NightShade’s mysteries aren’t coincidence. Their secrets will save them . . . or destroy them.

My Thoughts:

I was completely in the dark at first why the FBI director chose this particular agent given her recent mental hospitalization for seeing things that no one else had. Then it became clear to me that Eleri had special "talents" that allowed her to see things that would inevitably lead her to her suspect.

Unknown to her, Nightshade, which is the name the new FBI director has given his team, is not really the true "FBI" but it works within the confines of the FBI and has their full support but the difference is, they get to make judgment calls such as whether to bring the suspect in dead or alive.

She is paired with another unlikely FBI agent who has certain abilities and until they can trust each other to open up about what each of them brings to the table, their partnership will not withstand all the negative feelings that Eleri has. She has a lot of baggage she needs to get rid of if she wants to solve this particular case.

This is a fascinating tale of the both of them discovering what they are and what they can do with their abilities. It's also a great thriller because the person that they are trying to catch is very crafty and very dangerous. They will need both of their wits about them to get this evil man who preys on innocents who finally catch on to what he is capable of but they need help in escaping.

If you love reading heart pounding thrillers or murder/mysteries with a hint of supernatural, then you will want to read this book! I, myself can't wait to read the next Nightshade adventure!

Happy Reading!

Summer's Family Affair Book Spotlight & Giveaway

SummersFamilyAffair_Banner

Genre: Contemporary

Heat Level: Probably a 3.5 on a scale of 1-5. Open door but tasteful language.

SummersFamilyAffair600

Jenny Cohen defines successful independence: she put herself through college, couldn’t ask for better friends, owns a consulting firm, wears designer clothes, and just moved into her dream home . . . But she’s alone, except for her ailing mother whom she supports in a nursing home. As the marketing consultant for Chester, Dorsey & Tanner, she’s surrounded by male attention. Too bad it’s the overly-protective big-brother type.

Architect, Craig Stone, hasn’t looked at another woman since his wife passed away four years ago. His time is taken—building a career while trying to be both mother and father to his eight-year-old son. But when his appointment with the largest development firm in Nashville is double-booked with a black-haired beauty, he finds himself reaching for new possibilities.

The attraction sets off more fireworks than the Fourth of July. Yet, their relationship is riddled with issues neither one of them expected. Somewhere in the middle they must find a way to compromise or let go of a chance for love they may never find again.

EXCERPT

Craig waited at the bottom of the stairs. He’d escorted Carla from the house without another word and had quickly cleaned up. When Jenny appeared at the top of the steps, his heart began to pound. She wore a pair of formfitting, faded capris, a white cotton dress shirt, and multi-colored low-heeled sandals.

He met her at the bottom step. “I thought we might go by the Predator’s shop this afternoon and pick up new shirts. We need playoff gear.” Standing on that last step, even with her heels, she was barely eye-to-eye with him. He took her face in both hands and read her uncertainty.

“I’m sorry about Carla.” He kissed her forehead, then her nose, desperate to erase the tension. “I never dreamed she’d be so disrespectful. You were marvelous.”

Jenny smiled and eased her hands to his waist. “I’m glad our introduction is over. I hope we can meet on a more even field going forward.”

He wished it were true, but the look in Carla’s eyes when she’d left did little to convince him. “She really is a wonderful grandmother and she’s been so good to me. It’s going to take time for her to accept change.” He just hoped Jenny wouldn’t give up on him.

“I know. I can see that she’s a good person, who loves her family. She wants what’s best for you.”

He kissed her. Squarely on the mouth. Nose to nose. “I owe you another apology.”

“Oh?” She lifted an eyebrow.

“I hadn’t kissed you good morning yet.” His lips touched hers again, as she slid her arms around his waist and snuggled deeper into his hold.

“Well, it’s almost eleven, which means the morning is nearly over,” she whispered into his ear. “You, Mr. Stone, better get busy making it up to me.”

He inhaled her scent as she nipped his earlobe. He went hard instantly. She had no idea what her simple touch did to him. Wrapping his arms around her, he hauled her against his chest, lifted her off the step, and held her in the air. She giggled, her eyes full of amusement, as her feet dangled. She was so intoxicating.

He took her mouth again, with the desperation of a drowning man. Need pouring from his soul. If he could only wake up to this every morning for the rest of his life, he would die a happy man.

All too soon, he knew he had to stop. He hadn’t wanted to get carried away. Okay, honestly, he did want to get carried away, but he couldn’t do that right now. He’d simply wanted to sweep her off her feet.

He slowly lifted his head and whispered into her ear, “Am I forgiven?”

She shook her head and giggled. “I don’t know. When my head stops spinning, I’ll tell you.”

He laughed and set her on her feet. Mission accomplished.

Healing Eden Cover Reveal

Title: Healing Eden
Author: Rhenna Morgan
Publisher: Lyrical Press

Synopsis:
Galena Shantos has never questioned her loyalty to Eden. As sister to the Myren king, she serves as a healer, one of the best in the army fighting to suppress the brutal Lomos Rebellion. She’s never doubted the importance of stopping the rebels bent on enslaving humans, until she spots a warrior across enemy lines—and knows instinctively that their destinies are entwined. . .
Rebellion warrior Reese Theron has nothing left to lose. He’s been forced to fight on the wrong side of a war he abhors in order to protect his family secret. His honor lost, as well as the trust of his own people, Reese has thrown himself into a battle he cannot possibly hope to survive. But after being rescued by a beautiful woman whose exquisite eyes seem to see him for more than the traitor he’s become—he may have just found a new reason to live. . .
About the Author:

I write for the same reason I read—to escape reality.

Don’t get me wrong, my life rocks. I have two, beautiful little girls, a good husband, a steady job, and the kind of friends who will take you out back and beat you if you hurt me. But just like most other women, I’ve got endless obligations.

So, when the world beats me down, I slip into something…less realistic. Romance is a must. So is steamy sex. Nothing thrills me more than the fantasy of exciting new worlds, strong, intuitive men and the sigh of, “Oh, if only that could happen to me.”

So, if you’re picking up a book of mine, expect the unlikely. In the real world, most women don’t get swept off their feet by some billionaire Adonis or fall down the bunny hole into an alternate realm. In my fictional world, it’s a pretty safe bet.

Romantic Escape for the women who need it.
