Wow, have I got a thriller for you to read! It's mind blowing and you won't be able to put it down once you start, so I have to warn you now, that it can be addictive! It's called Trial Run written by Thomas Locke.
Reese Clawson's work is mind-bending--literally. Her company specializes in global data analysis for an elite group of industry executives, and now a lucrative government contract is moving her into the realm of cutting-edge intelligence gathering. She is determined to crack the limits of consciousness--and in doing so, the boundaries of secrets and lies.
But her experiment crashes as test subjects slide into a coma-like state. Reese is left scrambling to maintain control, drawing three disparate people into the search for answers--an adrenaline-amped thrill junkie with altered brain chemistry, an Italian scientist working on remote-viewing technology, and a math prodigy whose algorithms subvert computer encryption.
Will this piecemeal team prevail when a government operative is sent to investigate? As the threads of perception and reality become tangled and even time itself twists in unexpected directions, one warning remains clear: what you don't know can kill you.
With a concept so daring and writing so gripping, readers will swiftly fall under the spell of Thomas Locke's endlessly creative mind. This thrilling psychological journey into the very nature of causation and consciousness will leave them turning the pages and grasping for solid ground.
At first, I thought this might be some kind of cold war book or something to do with the military going rogue but the further I got into the book, the spookier it became.
It is absolutely mind blowing what these two separate groups of people are trying to do and one is doing it the humane way and trying to minimize the danger to it's test subjects while the 2nd group of people led by Reese Clawson has become frankly, quite unhinged and she will stop at nothing to get her goal before the other group does.
It matters not that she stole this research off the back of another brilliant woman who is also going to have to do something drastic to keep Reese from getting total control of the project and use it for dangerous reasons. The first group was going to use it as a therapy type program but Reese knew right away that this program could have real power in destroying one's enemy and she decided to go all out and get there first.
There are many twists and turns in this story, so you have to pay close attention to all of the players and what they are doing. It will rock your mind what some people are capable of doing if given the right resources and unlimited government backing!
