Shades of Doon Book Review

I have another awesome book I want to share with you called Shades of Doon. This is the third book in the series and I have already reviewed both of the other books here on my blog. The series is written by two friends, Carey Corp & Lorie Langdon. If you love YA Fantasy books, then this series is going to one of the great ones to read!
After cheating death, Veronica Welling is determined to savor every moment in her idyllic kingdom with both her true love and best friend by her side at last. At the same time, Mackenna Reid is enthusiastically building her new life and a theater with her prince. But just as their dreams of happiness are within reach, the world Vee and Kenna have chosen is ripped away, leaving them to face their most horrific challenge yet—their old lives.
Thrust out of Doon, the best friends are confronted with tormentors from their past and no way to return to their adopted land. When the MacCrae brothers rush to their rescue, the girls’ situation turns from nightmare to modern-day fairy tale. But their happiness could be short lived: unbeknownst to them, someone in their closest circle is aiding the witch of Doon in her bid to destroy the kingdom once and for all.

My Thoughts:
I really love this series because it is always full of things happening and it never gets old or boring. Each new book brings on a different problem for Veronica and her crew to solve and they make an interesting group of friends because each one has something to bring to the table that helps them all in solving the problems of Doon.
There will be another sequel coming and I can't wait to read it! Of course, unless they change their minds, this will be the last installment, and I am not so sure I am ready for this awesome series to end!
It blends in modern times and old times because Doon is in another dimension or whatever you wish to call it where time is suspended and you don't grow old like you do in our time. Sounds like something we would all want, huh? Of course, it also doesn't have all the modern day luxuries, except for when someone from our time goes over to their side and brings the new technology with them.
Then there is the Witch of Doon who seems bent on destroying Doon if she can't have it for herself and so far Veronica and her crew have managed to stop her, but when this latest sequel ended, things looked pretty bad for Doon, so now I will have to wait until early next year to find out what happens!

Happy Reading!

P.S. when the last book is reviewed next year, I will be giving the complete set away, so that is why I am not holding a giveaway on each individual book. So, be on the lookout next year for this awesome series!

About the Authors:
Author: Carey Corp:

Carey Corp wrote her first book, a brilliant retelling of Star Wars, at the prodigious age of seven. Since then, her love affair of reinvention has continued to run amuck. Writing both stories for young adults and literary fiction, she begins each morning consuming copious amounts of coffee while weaving stories that capture her exhaustive imagination. She harbors a voracious passion (in no consistent order) for mohawks, Italy, musical theater, chocolate, and Jane Austen.

DOON is the first of 4 books in her new young adult series loosely based on the concept of the musical Brigadoon, used with permission from the Alan Jay Lerner Estate & the Frederick Loewe Foundation, and co-written with Lorie Langdon. DOON debuts 8.20.13 with the brand new HarperCollins imprint BLINK.

Author: Lorie Langdon:

Lorie Langdon has wanted to write her own novels since she was a wee girl reading every Judy Blume book she could get her hands on. So a few years ago, she left her thriving corporate career to satisfy the voices in her head. Now as a full-time author and stay-at-home mom, she spends her summers editing poolside while dodging automatic water-gun fire, and the rest of the year tucked into her cozy office, Havanese puppy by her side, working to translate her effusive imagination into the written word.
