A Heart's Betrayal Book Review

I have another installment of the Journey of the Heart series to share with you and the title is A Heart's Betrayal written by Colleen Coble. This is the 4th book in a series of 6 books.

Synopsis:
Emmie finds shelter in the arms of a soldier, but her secret could drive them apart.
When Emmie Croftner answered the door to her late husband’s home, she discovered an awful truth: her deceased husband was a bigamist. And what’s more, the home she thought she inherited never belonged to her at all.
Suddenly displaced, powerless, and ashamed, Emmie can’t stay in Wabash, Indiana. She makes a hopeful start for Fort Laramie, Wyoming, to find her friend Sarah Montgomery and a new beginning. But when she arrives, she discovers she’s pregnant—and without a husband. The new start she’d hoped for slips from her fingers.
But then she meets Isaac Liddle, a handsome soldier with a kind heart. When he begins to court her, Emmie wonders whether she could ever really be his—and whether she dares to tell him she is carrying another man’s baby.

My Thoughts:

Although I did not read the earlier books, this short novella is actually a good stand alone book. It gave me enough of a background history that it didn't matter whether I had read the others or not. I got the basics of what happened to Emmie and was able to pick up the thread of the story quite well enough to enjoy this book just as much as if I had read the whole series.

Emmie sure does go through a lot it seems and in this book, she gets another shock but also some good luck finally happens, only to have an even bigger shock come once she is settled and thinks things might be looking up for her.

It's a good book and from just reading this novella, I think the whole series would be worth getting. I hope I am fortunate enough to read the next installment to see what happens to Emmie now that I am invested in her story.

Happy Reading!
