Media headlines abound these days saying, “Tea is trendy…” and we believe it until we read the first chapter of Ritual Tea: How the 9 Secrets of Tea Can Transform Your Life.   Entitled, Tea’s Sordid and Holy Exploits, chapter one is a worldwide, whirlwind tour of tea history that leaves the reader knowing once and for all that tea has always been trendy for very good reasons. Next to water, tea is the world’s most popular drink.

Tea has made a 5000 year trek to inhabit the world and in its wake it has altered not only individual lives but cultures and countries.  Ritual Tea asks, “Who will we be in tea’s history?”  Will we just make tea, or will we allow tea make us.
My Review:
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but it amazed me because what it does is give you a background into how tea was discovered and by whom and then how it travelled around the world. For instance, I did not know that it was considered an elite drink and poor people could not drink it way back in the day. According to the author, tea has been around for 5,000 years!
He also gives a lot of other information about tea and the people it comes into contact with and what each state or community thinks about their tea. He also debunks some myths and he will give you some links in the end to get some more free information on tea, tea products and tea itself. There are 10 secrets to enjoying and keeping up your special tea ritual and he explains all that in this book. If you enjoy drinking tea, it's really a surprising book on something I took for granted all my life.
Happy Reading!
