Werther's Original Popcorn Party Review

I recently had the pleasure of getting a package of Werther's Original Caramel Popcorn and an awesome movie called Soul Surfer to use for a MommyParty. I shared this awesome Caramel Popcorn and movie with a few friends and we had such a great time!
Werther's Original Caramel Popcorn was definitely a huge hit! Everyone thought the popcorn was so good! Wow, some of my friends actually ate 2 bags a piece! These are not small bags but once you started on them, it was hard to stop. I had to keep reminding myself that there were plenty to go around and to pace myself.
I did give a few bags away so that others who couldn't make the party were able to try it also. I asked them later on what they thought of Werther's Original Caramel Popcorn and they said they were blown away how much caramel was used in the popcorn so that every bite was just as good as the next. I guess that was one thing that everyone agreed on right away. It didn't matter if it was the beginning of the bag or the end, it all tasted the same, there was no variance. Which to me is a big deal because I have had flavored popcorn before where it starts out strong but by the end, you just want to throw it away because it's lost all it's flavor.
We pretty much used soda for our drink of choice but a few people had water and some had sweet tea. Whatever the preferred drink, everyone was happy with their combo and we really enjoyed the movie, Soul Surfer. I don't know if you have seen the movie or not, but it's about the girl who surfs and was attacked by a shark and lost one of her arms. Determined not to let that stop her, she continues to surf to this day. Very courageous because I doubt that I would feel the same way. Sharks actually terrify me and I won't get in the ocean above my knees! I know it's probably irrational, but I just can't make myself go any further.
I have a recipe I wanted to share with you from Werther's that we used for the party. I used their photo because it showed up better. Mine lacked clarity and you couldn't see the ingredients.
  • 2 cups small pretzel nuggets
  • 2½ cups small square rice cereal
  • 2 cups cinnamon bite sized cereal
  • 1 cup peanuts, chopped
  • 1 pkg. (9 oz) Werther‘s Original Baking Caramels, unwrapped
  • ¼ cup water

1. Preheat oven to 250°F. Grease a 10 1/2“ x 15 1/2“ jellyroll pan.
2. Combine pretzels, cereal and nuts in a large bowl. Microwave caramels
and water in a microwave safe bowl on HIGH for 2½ minutes or until melted, stirring after 1½ minutes.
3. Pour caramel mixture over pretzel mixture; stir until well coated. Spread evenly in prepared jellyroll pan. Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
4. Spread on greased aluminum foil to cool. Break into pieces, and store in an airtight container.
I will definitely be keeping this recipe to use for the holidays. I think it would make an awesome Christmas snack or even a great treat to give to everyone. We all agreed at the party that it would be a great hit so I am pretty sure I will make it again.

We all agreed that Werther's really did come up with a perfect popcorn to compliment their candies. I highly recommend getting your own bag of Caramel Popcorn and try it out for yourselves because once you do, you won't be able to put it down!

As you can see, they did not go easy on the caramel when making this delicious popcorn. That was also one of the things that everyone noticed. You get the full caramel experience in each and every single piece of popcorn. We were all very pleased and stuffed!

About Werther's Original:
A long time ago in the small European village of Werther, candy-maker Gustav Nebel created his finest candy. He used the best ingredients - real butter, fresh cream, white and brown sugars, a pinch of salt and a lot of time - to create a treasure worthy of being wrapped in gold. Because they turned out especially well, they were named Werther's Original in honor of the little village. Crafting this smooth, creamy caramel became a family tradition handed down through generations.

The recipe for snack mix looks really good. I always like a mix of salty and sweet for snack mix so I like that this has pretzels to balance out the caramel. Sounds delicious!

This sounds very good, I've never tried it. I had no idea how good caramel popcorn could be until I made my own, it was a shock! But no brand I've tried yet has been as good as the homemade - this sounds like it could be as good or better than homemade, which is kind of a pain to make. I want to try this!
