Jolly Time Popcorn Review

It's that time of year again where we are thinking of treats to make that will delight our family and friends and nothing is better than popcorn! Or at least it is in our house. My husband can eat some serious popcorn. He loves to eat a full bag of the microwave kind while watching a movie and he is very stingy with his bag, too!
So, I was very happy when Jolly Time came out with the new Butter Light and 100 Calorie versions of their popcorn because Mike's cholesterol was starting to inch up with all the Movie Theatre popcorn he was eating. Well, that and the daily morning muffins that he won't give up! By the way, did you know that October is National Popcorn Month? I sure didn't! Who would have thought? I guess it's because of Halloween, what do you think?

Now, the new Butter Light Microwave Pop Corn made with the Smart Balance patented blend of oils that help support heart health, and their exclusive natural ButterCrisp flavor. Every handful of perfectly crisp, 100% whole grain kernels packs mouth-watering, melted buttery goodness with zero grams of trans fat and zero hydrogenated oil. The regular Butter that is made with Smart Balance has the same ingredients except I think it has a more buttery taste which means that they put maybe a little extra Smart Balance Butter in there!
Now, Jolly Time also has lots of other flavors of popcorn so they are not just limited to these two versions if neither of these appeal to you. Another one of their popcorn's that I really love is the Kettle Corn. If you have never had Kettle Corn, you have to try it at least once! It is salty and has a sweet taste to it all at the same time. Awesome combination! Of course they are calling theirs KettleMania.
They also have one called Mallow Magic which is popcorn with melted marshmallows mixed in! Gosh, that one really sounds like a winner! Gosh, I can just imagine the calories that are in that one and in the one they call The Big Cheez! Jolly Time describes The Big Cheez as THE ultimate cheese microwave pop corn, with larger-than-life, full-out Cheddar Cheese flavor. Every bite is loaded with a melt-in-your-mouth burst of rich, over-the-top taste. It’s extremely delicious.

Now, for ones watching their salt intake they have one called Low Sodium 100 Calorie Healthy Popcorn and another one called Healthy Pop Butter Flavor with 100 Calories. The great thing about this one is that it is high in fiber and has only 2 grams of fat per bag!

So, you see, they do have a little bit of everything for every one in your family. Of course, I would hate to be the one doing the grocery shopping if I had to remember who wanted what flavor! There are some more different flavors but I think you get the gist of what I am saying.
I was also sent this popcorn ball maker and I hope to make some later on but I was running short of time so I just grabbed this picture off of their site. I have to admit, even I love caramel corn! I thought this was a pretty neat idea considering when I was young, I would watch my Mom have to keep shaping these balls by hand. Gosh, they sure were messy! She would have melted caramel everywhere and then there was a lot of butter to try and keep the stuff from sticking to her hands. This is a much better way of making Popcorn Balls in my opinion!

Want some recipe idea's for popcorn? Jolly Time has quite a few, so go check out their recipes! In the meantime, here is one that I thought you would love to know about:

Caramel Apple Crunch
  • 12 cups popped JOLLY TIME® Healthy Pop 94% Fat free Microwave Pop Corn
  • 24 mini bear-shaped cinnamon flavored graham crackers
  • 1/2 cup dried apple slices, cut into bite size pieces
  • 1/2 cup packed lite brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup caramel flavored syrup (used in coffee drinks)
  • 1 envelope (.74 ounce) spiced apple cider drink mix
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
Prep Time: 10 minutes

In a large bowl, combine popped popcorn (removing any un-popped kernels), graham cracker bears and apple pieces; toss. In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil on high. Stir. Cook an additional 30 seconds on high. Pour over popcorn mixture, mixing well to coat. Pour half into a microwave-safe 9-inch pie pan that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Microwave on high 2 minutes, stirring every minute. Transfer to waxed paper to cool. Repeat with remaining mixture.
