About the Film
THE SHORT GAME follows the lives of eight of the best 7-year old golfers in the world as they train for and compete in the World Championships of Junior Golf. The annual tournament held at golfing mecca Pinehurst, North Carolina, brings in 1500 young golfers from 54 different countries and determines who will be crowned golfs next phenom. In its course, the eight stories entwine to form a fascinating and often funny portrait of a group of very young athletes and their families, in which the narrow-focused, peculiar and highly competitive junior golf subculture becomes both a window into contemporary global society and an inspiring reflection of the human condition.I watched the movie trailer and was very surprised at how well some of these kids can play! I can't even imagine being that young and being good at playing golf, of all things.
Our children are a lot more sports minded and determined than they were when I was growing up. All we thought about doing was playing period! It also says a lot about the parents and their commitment to their children to see them through this journey.
This is one movie that you will want your children to watch. Hopefully, it will give them the courage to go for their dreams, no matter what that may be. It's a great movie for all ages, and that in itself is hard to say these days. Heck, you might even have the next best golfer in your house!
Release date for the movie is September 20th, so mark your calendars!
