Winter in Full Bloom Book Review

Oh, how I love Christmas time stories that are also filled with drama and lots of history! You will love this new book called Winter In Full Bloom written by Antia Higman.

Overview of Book:
Lily Winter’s wings are folded so tightly around her daughter that when empty nest arrives, she feels she can no longer fly. But Lily’s lonely, widowed life changes in a heartbeat when she goes to visit a woman who is almost a stranger to her-a woman who also happens to be her mother.
During their fiery reunion, her mother reveals a dark family secret that she’d been hiding for decades-Lily has an identical twin sister who was put up for adoption when they were just babies.
Without looking back, Lily-with her fear of flying-boards a jumbo jet and embarks on a quest to find her sister which leads half way around the world to Melbourne, Australia. Befriended by imprudent Aussie, he might prove to be the key to finding her sister.
But her journey becomes a circle that leads her back home to attempt a family reunion and to find the one dream she no longer imagined possible-the chance to fall in love again.
Lily Winter was deeply shocked to find out her mother had given her twin sister to another woman when they were born. She said she did it because a woman named Naomi thought the child was sick and frail and didn't think Iris could handle a baby who was sick and one who wasn't. Not sure I believe that line and I wonder what Lily really felt but she decided to track her sister down.

Her trip to Australia actually did not result in her finding her sister but it did help her befriend a man who wrote books under another name. When he told Lily about it, she recognized the name and said she had always loved those books. She used to play the piano and she found out her sister played the flute.

It wasn't until she went back home and the Aussie writer comes to visit that her sister also arrives and she is pregnant. But, a tragedy that is again inflicted by Iris, although it was an accident, still hurt both sisters. Marcus, the Aussie, does meet Lily's daughter, Julie and the rest of the family and Lily finally realizes that maybe love can come around a second time.

Boy, this story was a heartbreaker. Not sure I knew who I was rooting for and who I wanted to be mad at when Camilla lost the baby she was carrying. It seemed like she had gotten the wrong end of the deal her whole life but things do have a way of working out. I won't spill the beans on how the sisters fair on the reunion in Houston because to me, that is really the whole story behind this book.

Happy Reading!
