Thursday Morning Breakfast (and Murder) Club Book Review

I have a great murder/mystery book to share with you today called Thursday Morning Breakfast (And Murder) Club written by Liz Stauffer.
When Clare Ballard sports a new bruise on her right cheek the day after a contentious town meeting, the ladies of the Thursday Morning Breakfast Club suspect her husband Roger of abusing her. That same day Hester Franklin, another breakfast club lady, is called to rescue her grandson Patrick after he is arrested for transporting drugs. Proclaiming his innocence, Patrick threatens that those who set him up will pay. Roger Ballard is high on his list.
But it’s when Lillie Mae Harris, the club's leader, discovers the body of the local drug dealer on the nearby hiking trail, that the community is upended. Roger Ballard, the primary suspect, goes missing, and when his body turns up in his own back yard, Clare Ballard confesses to his murder. No one believes she did it, but Clare insists she’s guilty and mysteriously refuses to talk to her lawyer, the police, or her family and friends.
The Thursday Morning Breakfast Club ladies believe she’s protecting someone, and they vow to find out who it is. Charlie Warren, the town’s homegrown policeman, using unconventional means, collaborates with the breakfast club ladies to draw out the real criminal. But danger lurks.
Alice Portman, the matriarch of the breakfast club, is struck down in her own yard and is sent to the hospital. Then others in the small community start to disappear—one after the other. As the ladies get closer to the truth, they get closer to the danger. With no time to cry over spilled coffee, they form a plan to capture the true culprits before someone else is murdered.
This book is fast paced and a lot of things happen quickly once the first body is found.  It starts with Lillie Mae, a good and loving woman in the community who cares deeply for her neighbors and friends, finds the first body while out walking on the hiking trail.

The book club has another member, Clare who is married to an awful man named Roger and when he is found murdered, she honestly believes she did it because she did hit him. No one believes her and they can't figure out why she is confessing. They think she is covering for someone. She does have a son, named Billy, who is the reason she stayed married to Roger, even though he abused her.

She does have someone who does love her named Dale and he wishes she would let him show her how much. He decides to wait as long as it takes for her to come around and believe in him.

But, who is murdering all of these people? That is where the book club joins with Charlie Warren and decide to help him solve all of these mysteries. Come to find out, there is a lot of drug deals going on and that is the root of the problem.

This book is a great mystery/drama book that will delight mystery fans! You won't get bored and your mind won't wander because you have to stay focused on what is going on or you might miss an important clue to help solve the whole mystery.

Just goes to show that just because you are important, wealthy or considered a good person, doesn't mean you can't lead a double life or that you have misrepresented yourself. I bet a lot of that goes on in real life. And that is the beauty of this book, before you realize it, you understand exactly where the writer got their inspiration!

Happy Reading!

The author has been kind enough to offer one reader an ebook copy in Kindle version only (U.S. & Canada).  I can also send you my hardcopy copy for those who would prefer a hardcopy (only in U. S.) Good Luck Everyone!
