I have a new company to tell you about that I found by accident while looking thru websites for snacks. The company is called Tyrrell's and they make some really awesome chips that are Hand Cooked English Chips! My first thought was, how can you make chips more special than any other? Well, I got my answer when I bit into my first one and boy are they scrumptious!
Here are the flavors we got to review:
1.) Sweet Chili & Red Pepper
2.) Lightly Sea Salted
3.) Veg Chips
4.) Mature Cheddar and Chives
5.) Sea Salt and Cracked Black Pepper
6.) Worcesterhire Sauce & Sundried Tomato
Now, I don't these just absolutely awesome! I have to be honest and tell you that if you ever start eating these, you will never want another chip in it's place unless you don't like really crispy chips! Well, that has always been one of my pet peeves, limp chips or stale tasting chips but you won't find those with Tyrrell's, quite the opposite, these are the most crunchiest chips I think I have ever eaten!
Let's start with the Lightly Sea Salted:
I did mention that these are hand cooked in England, right? Well, if I didn't, they most definitely are. I love the old fashioned look of the bags that house these awesome chips, what do you think? I also love the carefree way these ladies are playing at the beach, as if they had not a care in the world. And that is what I think the Lightly Sea Salted chips are all about......Get it? Sea? Beach?
What I really like is that they are made with simple ingrediants like these:
Potatoes, sunflower oil and sea salt. But they are also Gluten Free, No MSG's and Vegan Friendly!
Here is what is on the label on the back of the bag regarding the Nutritional Value. I think compared to other chips, this is one great feat that they managed to overcome, high calories & fat:
Amount Per 1 oz (30g) / % Daily Value
Calories 150
Calories from fat 70Total Fat 7g / 11%
Saturated Fat 1g / 5%
Sodium 70mg / 3%
Total Carbohydrate 15g / 5%
Dietary Fiber 2g / 8%

I have to tell you I have tasted other companie's attempts at making veggie chips, veggie fries, you name it, I tried it. And like I stated earlier, you wouldn't catch me eating beets in a million years! But, even my husband loved them. This was the first bag to go like in 2 days!
They were just as crunchy as the others and the beet chips did not really taste like beets per say, but they carried that really beet red color and I guess combined with the other veggies, it just seemed like a natural fit.
By the way, I did say that ALL of these chips are 100% Natural, didn't I? If you love other veggie chips or fries, you are gonna freak over these! Oh, and did you notice, once again, they used the old fashioned look? Gotta love a company that remembers it's roots! Don't they look magnificent? These are the veg chips below:
Let's see, I believe the next one that I could eat before having to release the others into Mike's hands was the Mature Cheddar and Chives. I really loved these also but could not eat as many as the Veg Chips in one time because the chives are definitely alive in these great chips. If you love the Sour Cream and Chive chips made by other companies, then this one will definitely blow your socks off!
Can you see that they really love their past history? I love the women in their old timey hats and coats standing beside that big block of cheese! The reason these bags are not coming out clear is that they have a little bit of a shiny surface and my camera is not the best in the world, so it shines back at me when I take pictures like this. I tried every angle and this one was actually the only one that came out half decent.
The ingrediants in this bag is slightly different plus it does contain milk so they put an Allergy Alert on this one.
Okay, here is where Mike had to take over the last three bags because they contained ingrediants that I have to be careful about. I know some of you read my latest health update where I found out along with all my other issues, I now have Acute Gastritis, so I have to stay away from hot or spicy foods or anything with acids in it like tomatoes. It really is getting harder and harder to find foods I can eat with this latest diagnosis.
Now one of his favorites was the Worcesterhire Sauce and Sun Dried Tomatoes. Mike loves just about anything that has tomatoes and he really loves the Worcestershire Sauce because he puts it on hamburgers, chicken and steak when he grills.
So, this was another successful bag of chips that he really took to them. If you like either of those flavors, this will be the chip for you! He said they were sweet but tangy at the same time.
But, at least I have Mike to let me know about things like these last 3 bags of chips. His very favorite is the Sweet Chili and Red Peppers. He about went berserk on me when he took his first bite of those. Without thinking, he said, You have to try these, they are really good! I said, but Mike, you know I can't!
I asked him if they were hot and he admitted that they did have a little heat and that I best not try them. Once you see the list of ingrediants, there are more than one or two hot ones:
Potatoes, sunflower oil, sugar, natural flavor, onion powder, salt, tomato powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, parsley, jalapeño chili pepper, white pepper, natural color (paprika extract), ginger, star anise, basil, red pepper.
If you like hot wings, then Mike said you will really take to these. He was really enjoying himself while eating these. He is being a little careful though and still has some left. He does have Acid Reflux himself but not as bad as mine and he takes meds, but he can still eat stuff like this in moderation, which he does.
Lastly, we have the Sea Salt and Cracked Black Pepper. I knew better than to touch this one. I have had to slow down on adding black pepper to our foods since my diagnosis. We used to use black pepper in our foods to flavor them instead of using so much salt, but all that had to stop.
Mike isn't too big of a fan of this kind of chip, no matter who makes it, so we decided to send this one to work with him one day so that the guys (there are no women where he works) could enjoy these.
Mike said they were gone in an instant! They remarked on how crispy they were and that they were really good. So, I think we accomplished our mission and got another opinion from a group of guys who certainly love to eat! (they go out every day to lunch and eat like crazy, Mike included!)
Here is a little bit about Tyrrell's that I thought was interesting:
As the eagle-eyed among you will no doubt have noticed, we’re English. Our farm’s in a lovely little place called Leominster in the county of Herefordshire. It’s a handsome part of the world, with its rolling hills and winding roads. Best of all its rich, red soil makes for stonkingly good potatoes.Connect with Tyrrell's several ways:
We’re proud Herefordshirians (is that a word?), so we only use potatoes from local farmers, our favorites being the rather aristocratic and delicious Lady Rosetta and Lady Claire. They’re the names of the potatoes, not the farmers – just to be clear. If you’d like to know which one you’re munching on, just have a goosey at the little panel on front of the bag!
