Oh, do I have a treat for you guys! I recenty got an awesome box filled with candy from a company called Old Time Candy and you can pick any decade all the way back to the 1950's and up to the 1980's of the candy that was around at that time. I chose All Decades because I could get a little bit of everything.
Below is a picture of what the box looked like when it came.
Lord, I had forgotten about alot of the candy that was in that box! By the way, this box weighs 4 pounds so that is some packed to the gills box of candy! I immediately saw several items that used to be my favorites when I was younger. But, before we get into that, I wanted you to see the inside of the box and then we will talk about some of this awesome candy!
Okay, here were some of my favorites:
Zagnut Candy Bars which were crunchy peanut butter candy bars coated with coconut. Gosh, I sure did love those. I wish I had gotten more than one bar but then, I thought, maybe not, I am trying to lose a few pounds! Then there was the Sky Bar that is in four square sections and filled with caramel, vanilla, peanut and fudge. Mike and I shared that one! One of my other favorites was the Swedish Fish which were red soft and chewy fish shaped candy. Almost like a Gummy Bear but more soft and chewy.
Mmm, I thought I had taken a picture of the Swedish Fish, but I didn't. But up above you see the other 2 bars of candy I was talking about including PayDay, which is another favorite and then the Original Spree Dots that were made by Wonka. I am saving those to give to my daugther and granddaugther when I see them.
They used to love these until Skittles came along. Way back in the back is the Laffy Taffy in banana flavor. Saving that one for them too! I am not big on Taffy but that's okay because I really do love sharing.
Do you remember these? I do! I used to love biting the tops off of the waxed bottles and drinking whatever flavor was inside and then look at those lips! We used them for lips at Halloween and any other type of party and then you can chew on them later on. Wow, what fun this has brought back so many memories!
My friend next door wanted the red and black Jawbreakers you see here on the bottom along with all the individual Taffy and there are some Root Beer candies and the Bit o Honey! Do you remember the Chick O Stick? Sorta like the Zagnut but in smaller sizes. Oh, the Zotz's used to be so much fun, remember how they would fizz and pop in your mouth when the candy disappeared and the fizzies started?
Gosh, I could go on and on but there is just way too many pieces of candy that I could be here forever. I just wanted to give you an idea of what you can find in each box. They balanced it out between chocolate candy bars, hard candy, soft candy, taffy and sweet & tart candies. Oh, I almost forgot the fake cigarettes! I used to play like I was really smoking. Remember now?
Oh, and by the way, they have something called Deal of the Day and it changes every day so you will have to keep checking back to see if it's anything you would like. Today's deal is the Bubble Gum Fake Cigarettes!
Each day at midnight, Eastern Time, we will have a new deal on our most popular candies, Check back often! Deal-of-the-Day is not combinable with other discounts.(Limit 5 per customer)
Well, that didn't come out as big as I had hoped but this is from the Retro Toy section. You can also order toys from our past! I remember Gumby, do you? I guess I am showing my age by disclosing this toy. They have some really awesome Yo Yo's in there, too! Along with cars and other awesome things that we all used to play with.
They also make Party Favors if you need some of those. They will make them for you or you can go and pick out what you want in them and they will put them together for you. How neat! I think putting some retro candy in a Party Favor or Thank You for coming gift pretty unique and amazing.
Here is what I found on the About Us section:
What we do:
We have a lot of fun eating and selling the candy we ate as kids. Sometimes we are asked how we can sell 50 year old candy. It makes us smile and our response is that our candy is fresh from the manufacturer. We don't make the candy, we tracked down the manufacturers who are still in business and sell their candy on the Internet. Most of us have grown up, gone to college, maybe moved to a different area of the country, raised families and in the process have forgotten about the candy of our youth. We package and ship our candy every day so it gets into your hands (and mouths) quickly.
Our business history:
This adventure began in July, 1999 when we walked into a large candy store in Cleveland, Ohio that specializes in old time candy. We had no idea that many of our old time favorites still existed. It was the candy we ate as kids... Necco Wafers, Candy Buttons on paper tape, Wax Lips, Candy Cigarettes. Amazing! What makes us unique:
We went on-line in early 2000 with our first candy assortment and began to grow. In 2003 we moved into a larger facility and expanded at the beginning of 2004. We moved into a much larger facility in August of 2006 where we are located today. 2011 began our 11th year in the candy business. Thanks for helping us be successful. We hope you like what we do and will continue to support us with your purchases and referrals.
Connect with Old Time Candy several ways:We are actually in the "memory business." It is our hope that you will enjoy the candy and at the same time, take a trip down memory lane. Our Candy you ate as a kid® packages make wonderful gifts. Everyone loves candy, especially candy you ate as kid.
