Larabar's Jocalat Sponor Spotlight Review

I know you have seen me introduce Larabar's to you in the past and this time I took a rather unconventional path and reviewed 4 products that Larabar said was something that only a select few people might like but I still wanted to try them but we did agree that the winner would not get these but would get a mixture of the more traditional and more well liked Larabar's.
So, this is really just to give you a look at a different kind of Larabar that you might not ordinarily see anywhere else.
This is what Jocalat Larabar's are all about: J
Jŏcalat® is an organic chocolate food bar made from fruits, nuts and Fair Trade Certified™ chocolate. Each flavor contains no more than seven simple, organic ingredients that are deliciously rich, without added sugars, and free of dairy, soy, and gluten.
This is the Chocolate Coffee Jocalat Larabar. It is blended with dates and nuts and is a delightful treat that provides 1/2 serving of fruit, 5 grams of fiber and 15% of the recommended daily value of Magnesium. The nuts are organic walnuts, hazelnuts, cashews along with organic chocolate and cocoa powder. Add the Fair Trade Coffee flavor and it really will taste like a mocha chocolate coffee drink instead of a protein snack bar. This was my second best bar.
I actually liked the Jocalat Bar's but can see why Larabar would be concerned enough not to give this one out as the winner's prize. Most people might not care for the simple taste of organic chocolate but I found it to be quite moist and good.
You will love this Chocolate Mint Jocalat because it will bring you the taste of organic chocolate with a burst of cool peppermint.  I won't repeat myself because it has all of the same grams of fiber and magnesium as the top one did along with the 1/2 serving of fruit, fiber and the other supplements. They all have this in common, so I won't keep repeating it and just give you the tastes instead after this one.
The only different ingrediants in this one is the vanilla and the peppermint flavor minus the walnuts and cashews but it does have the almonds, dates, chocolate and cocoa powder. This was almost like eating a browinie flavored with mints.
Because I love Hazelnuts, this Chocolate Hazelnut was actually my favorite. It has all the stuff that the first one does except for the hazelnuts.  It does have the almonds, dates, chocolate and cocoa powder. It was a nice mixture of nuts and chocolate and found this one to be one of the better ones as far as imitiating the flavor of hazelnuts in other organic bars.
And then we get down to the original plain Chocolate Jocalat bar. Again, it is the same values as the others and it is dates, almonds, walnuts, cashews, cocoa powder and organic chocolate. This is just one nice big chocolate bar with the fruit and nuts!
All in all, I found them to be pretty darn good but agree with Larabar that for the winner, we will stick with a mixture of the more relateable bars that you know about and see all the time in the stores. I am not sure which ones they have picked for you but I am sure that they will be awesome. I have yet to try a Larabar that was so awful I couldn't eat it. Considering their high values, I don't think that is gonna happen anytime soon!
Here is a little bit about the Founder of Larabar:
It started out as just a hike, no different than countless others I've taken into the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Little did I know I was about to come up with a mountain of an idea: Combine wholesome ingredients such as fruits and nuts to create a food product that's tasty, healthy and convenient.

In that instant, in May 2000, LÄRABAR® was born. After scouring the aisles of grocery stores and noting popular flavors of ice cream and cookies, I delved into my own product development. Natural foods, I believed, should be fun and enjoyable as well as good for you. With friends and family serving as focus groups, I tinkered with recipes until a consensus on yummi-ness was reached.

The next step was to launch a company to market what would initially be five delicious LÄRABAR flavors: Cherry Pie, Apple Pie, Cashew Cookie, Banana Cookie, and Chocolate Coconut Chew. I also assembled a sophisticated manufacturing arm... what amounted to be a Cuisinart™ and a rolling pin. The first batch of bars I produced for retail had to be sealed by hand — all 500 of them!

Larabar has been kind enough to give one winner of the Earth Day Event that starts on March 6th and ends on the 20th, a mixture of their Larabars. I don't know which flavors or from what pack but they are gonna be fabulous whatever they are! Open in the U.S. only. Good Luck Everyone!

Mary Bearden personally reviewed these products. I did not receive any monitary compensation for my review, just a sample product. All opinions are mine and belong to me solely. My thoughts and opinions may differ from yours.

I think that I would like all of the flavors that you sampled, but I also like to find healthy snacks that will appeal to my 9 year old, and I have found that it is true that the more traditional the flavors in healthy bars the more likely he is to eat them.
