Duchess Book Review

I have a great book to tell you about called Duchess written by Susan May Warren and it's the third book in a series.  If you read Baroness or Heiress, this is the same series that continues in Duchess.

When her country needs her, will she have the courage to surrender her glittering world and her one true love?
The golden age of Hollywood is in the business of creating stars. Rosie Worth, now starlet Roxy Price, has found everything she’s wanted in the glamour of the silver screen. With adoring fans and a studio-mogul husband, she’s finally silenced the voices—and grief—of the past.
Her future shines bright…until the fated Black Friday when it all comes crashing down. When Roxy loses everything, she finds herself disgraced and penniless. Her only hope is to join forces with Belgian duke Rolfe Van Horne, a longtime film investor.
But Rolfe is not who he seems, and he has other plans for Roxy and her movies—plans to support a growing unrest in Europe, plans that could break her heart and endanger her life.
My thoughts:

This poor woman goes thru alot in her life beginning with the death of her first husband. She was pregnant and she felt dead inside and did not want to raise a child that way. So, she gave a woman named Lily who lived in Montana her child to raise thinking it was better for her there than living with a woman who had no will to live.

Her mother is very wealthy and wants her to meet this Duke named Rolfe but she refuses. Instead she marries a man named Dash and she becomes a really good movie star. But trouble rears it's ugly head again and the stock market crashes and Dash kills himself.

Roxy has to ask for her inheritance money from her mother to get back on her feet and pay off the millions of dollars that she owed.

Poor Roxy thinks that is the end of her troubles, but more awaits her later on in the book. I almost feel a connection because my life has spiraled alot out of control when I was younger and then I met my current husband and thought, finally I will be happy.

Well, that only lasted 3 or 4 years until I got sick. So, Roxy's story is actually pretty close to my life and I do believe people go thru alot in life.  Some are lucky I guess or we don't know what goes on behind closed doors and I bet some movie stars are so good at acting, I think it is instinct to them to believe they are okay.

Roxy doesn't know it yet, but she is fixing to be smack in the middle of Germany and the war when she finally decides to go to Germany with Rolfe to make a movie. She misunderstands something he does while all along he is just trying to protect her.

Isn't that just like in life? We jump to the wrong conclusions alot of times without hearing the person out or in Roxy's situation, he doesn't tell her the truth because he wants to protect her from great harm and the war that is raging on.

You will love this book as it has everything rolled into one. The action is fast paced and Roxy's emotions are all over the place, which is normal for someone in her place. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did.

Happy Reading!
