I had asked to do this review of this new Kabooti Seat Cushion hoping it would help my husband who has to sit in a truck most of the day driving around unless he is working on something that has broken down. I am not allowed to divulge the company's name because it is almost impossible to get this company to help their employee's with any type of relief or humane conditions in my opinion.
I needed to say "in my opinion" so it is documented that it is my opinion but when you don't let men keep the heat on in their trucks in the winter to keep warm or to use the air conditioner in the summer to stay cool, it is not right. My husband has had to buy all kinds of things like fans and little plug in heaters to help him while working outside.
We don't know when the trouble started or why but needless to say he now has back issues just like I do but for me because of my other extensive illnesses I don't have to work, I am drawing disability but he has to work for our Health Insurance more than anything else.
So, when I run across Natural Pain Relievers (he's not allowed to take meds because of drug tests) like creams and ointments, I get them hoping that they will provide him some relief. You would be surprised how many beds we have bought in the last 10 years trying to find something so he gets a good night's sleep. So far no luck, and we even tried the 2 top of the line beds, Temperpedic and Sleep Number. For me, it actually hurt me worse so I sleep in a recliner in the living room.
This is what the cushion looks like when someone is using it to and I think the main purpose is get you to sit right and thus, the back is relieved and the pain also. But, see, that wouldn't work for Mike, and I guess I misunderstood what this was. I got it into my head it was like a cushion to help make his seat not be so hard and making the back hurt because of the hard surface.
Unfortunately, for Mike, this Kabooti Seat Cushion, actually made the seat even more hard and he would come home in terrible pain. So, he gave it back but all was not lost as I found a neighbor whose mother couldn't sit up right so I gave them the cushion and she seems to be doing much better.
I realized after looking at the pictures that this would be excellent for someone who has hemorrhoids and other hip problems but for someone with back and neck issues, this does not support the neck because if I am looking at this picture right, the spine falls into the donut hole in the seat.
Here is what they say about their seat:
- Coccyx cutout extends from back of cushion all the way to the center oval cutout. This provides complete comfort for sore areas and also helps improve airflow so user is cool and comfortable
- Wedge shaped cushion features tapered design - thicker in back and narrower in front. This allows complete support where you need it (tailbone, buttocks) and less support under thighs. Especially helpful when driving or sitting at a desk. This design also helps circulation under thighs.
- Ergonomic design helps promote proper posture by slightly tilting the pelvis forward. This maintains the spine's proper lumbar curve for low back comfort and pelvic support.
- The cover features a double knit fabric which stretches in two ways. The cover also makes this donut discreet - no one will know it's not a tradition seat cushion!
- Corner lobes provide stability, unlike regular donut rings which can pose difficulties in terms of balancing.
For what this seat was designed for, it should give the correct users much needed relief and I am glad that it will be able to help some people out there including my neighbor and friend's mother. She had dementia and so getting her to sit at all is quite a challenge but this has made it easier and she now says she doesn't feel like she's falling or sinking into the couch or chair anymore. So, I did find someone who could use it and I will continue my search for my husband because he so desperately needs some relief.
He does say since he's gotten a few nerve blocks in his back that he doesn't hurt so bad at work but it's sleeping at night that is killing him. He is also so extremely tired when he gets home that we lay down and take a nap so he feels refreshed for dinner. He only lays about an hour. I hardly sleep but I know if I don't lay down, our Yorkie, Charlie won't settle down too, so that makes it hard on Mike because Charlie is ready to play.
So, we lay down for about an hour when he gets home and that helps some. I also rub some cream on him that relaxes the muscles and that works a little but it is really the massaging chair unit I bought to go on our recliner that gives him the most relief. He does that about 3 or 4 times a day when not working and about 2 to 3 times when he is. Too bad that won't work in his truck. Not allowed to plug anything in.
But for those of you suffering any of the problems that are described from the Kabooti Cushion use's, you are in very good luck, for there is help for you. And I am glad that some people will see some relief. It would really be a bad world if we had almost everyone suffering some sort of pain. I doubt much would get done. But because the inventors of the Kabooti Cushion prevailed, some people who had the issues that this seat could offer some relief, will get it and be all right.
You should really give it a try if you have any of the previous problems like my friend and neighbor and from what the reports show from the users of the Kabooti Cushion who say they are much better than they were before. That, is truly a blessing.
I saw this on their site and we are going to discuss this and see if maybe this might be something that might help him sleep better at night. He hasn't had time to look fully into it yet and neither have I with so many reviews to do but I am gonna keep this in mind. It just might be the answer to our problem. Our only problem is Mike is a side sleeper and never has been able to sleep on his back, so I am not sure if this would work or not, but we are gonna research it some more.
