But I am really hoping this works because it sure will save us some money! We normally spend $40 when Charlie has to go for a groom and that may not seem like alot but it is 2 bottles of medicines for me.
Here is Charlie without a groom:
Finally after alot of pills and shots, the Vet suggested we get an extreme hair cut to see what happens. Sure enough, as long as Charlie has short hair, all the allergies are gone. No more biting, chewing, itching, scratching and shaking.
So, finally the day we tried to cut this toenails after we let them do the last groom so we wouldn't throw all the scary stuff at him at the same time, we let them do the bath and cutting and then we brought him home. To say the least, it is not gonna be as easy as I was hoping for. But, even if I get one nail at a time, it will get done and I think once he calms down, and see's that it is us doing it, I am hoping I get pass the one nail or we got two the last time.
Here are the Sunbeam specifics on the brand that we chose to use:
The Sunbeam lighted nail trimmer offers a safe and innovative way to file your dogs nails. Two LED lights help illuminate the quick (the nerve running down the inside of the dog’s nail) to ensure you do not file too much. It also features a professional grade motor that will work on even large breeds with thick nails.
Features:
•LED lighted trimmer helps identify the quick
•2 Speed Settings: 13,000 / 6,500 RPM
•Cordless – Uses 4 AA batteries (not included)
•Includes Safety Guard cap, 80 grit filing stone, 60 grit and 100 grit filing bands

So, I haven't given up yet. I would have loved to have shown you some of Charlie's pictures but it was difficult enough with both of us holding him down and one using the trimmer to even think about taking pictures. But I will show you how it is suppose to look from the photo's on Sunbeam's site.
I think it will take some time and we will get there. I am not about to give up yet. If some of you have some tips if you have used similar devices and had success with them, I would love to hear them. Anything that will make this a better experience for Charlie is all I want. I don't want him to be afraid of everything associated with taking baths.
He already hates those as it is. Every time he hears that water running in the guest bathroom, he knows Mike is coming for him and he runs to me expecting me to help him. Poor Baby doesn't understand he has to take them to stay smelling good so he can stay in the house.
Also, be aware that you can buy these at Petsmart now!

I think I have the only large mix & pug that do let me trim nails! They sit still, no problems. My pug is a puppy-mill survivor and somehow she had learn to trim her own nails...but I have to file the jagged edges. I have been trying to get her to stop as she bites a bit too low.

I have a mix mystery breed and she hates to have her nails cut!
Dexter is a Vizsla/Pointer mix, and it takes two of us to trim his nails!
I have a little Mini Pin mixed with Chihuahua and Rat Terrier. He looks just like a Mini Pin though! He is my baby! His name is Dino and he sleeps with me and hangs out with me all day! The only way I can trim his nails is with my daughter holding him in a towel. He gets a lttle nervous. This would be great for him!
We have a Maltipoo dog.
Thanks for the chance!

I have a half chihuahua half pekingese mix, and she is not a fan of having her nails trimmed. I can do it if I fight really hard, but it's almost not worth the effort.
I have a pugs he is spoiled and he will let me trim his nails but he fusses at me.
I have an American Eskimo who is 15 years old and will take just about anything, there would be no problem trimming his nails. I also have a 7 month old Morkie Poo, who is very energetic, that may be a chore to get him to let me trim his nails.
He is a boxer breed and is pretty good about having his nails cut. This trimmer would eliminate those sharp edges that you have when you use regular clippers.

I have an almost 5 year old American Pit Bull Terrier. He lets me trim his nails, clean his ears, and brush his teeth. I haven't tried this type of nail trimmer yet because he thinks anything that makes noise is a toy. :)

We have a beagle mix right now, and she lets us trim her nails. She doesn't really like it, and we don't either, but we get the job done when it needs to be done.

Neither of my dogs like it. I have a great dane/mastiff and he is hard to handle while trimming! I also have a king charles cavalier spaniel and she doesn't like it either, but we manage!
