Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops Review & Giveaway **Closed**

I know it hasn't been that long since you last heard me talk about Pine Brother's Softish Throat Drops and I was so excited when they asked me to do another review for them. You are gonna love these really unique and different drops for your sore throats or to just get some moisture going on in your mouth! If you are like me and have dry mouth, I love just popping one of the above, Natural Honey, into my mouth and just let it stay there until it dissolves. I love the taste and it is not a real harsh smell or taste like the drops that have that mentyl in them. The Natural Honey is my favorite while Mike liked the Cherry better. Oh, I also found out that they are naturally flavored, Gluten free and only 5 calories per drop.

Besides the bags that you see above in the Natural Honey and Cherry they also come in round tins that are so easy to take with you in your car, purse or diaper bag! I keep one right beside the table here in the living room just so I have one handy any time I feel like my mouth needs to get some moisture.

I wonder if the Pine Brothers will want to know that their drops are also good for dry mouth? Well, they will figure it out when they read this review, don't you? Especially the Natural Honey! As always, please check with your doctor to make sure nothing you are taking clashes with these, although I doubt that they will, with them being natural and all, but I would hate to say take them and something goes wrong.  Please read the Allergen Statement for sure.

Uses: For temporary relief of minor discomfort and protection of irritated areas in sore mouth and sore throat.
.
Directions: Adults and children 3 years and over: dissolve 1 or 2 drops slowly in mouth. Repeat as needed. Best if not chewed. For children under 3, ask a doctor.

Warnings: Sore Throat Warning: If sore throat is severe, persists for more than 2 days, is accompanied by fever, nausea, swelling, rash, headache, vomiting, consult a doctor promptly.

Allergen Statement: Manufactured in a facility that processes peanuts and tree nuts.

Oh, by the way, next year they are coming out with a Lemon Citrus and they do have the Black Licorice but they have limited quantities. They won't have to worry about me wanting black licorice because I can't stand that flavor! Never have, never will.

But, I realize that alot of people do like it, so I thought I should tell you that they do have it, unless they have sold out by now. Thank goodness, they did not send me any or I would have had to give them to someone else to try. But, they didn't, almost like they knew not to, huh?

Here is a video I found that explains alot better than I can:

I just have to share their story with you because it is a testament to what is going on in our country right now and that products made overseas does not necessarily mean that they are better! I am quoting from the company on how Pine Brothers came to be:
Ulysses S. Grant was President, the population of America hovered at 39 million, and the telephone was still a pipe dream, when in 1870 J. Herman Pine hung out a confectionery shingle on 8th Street above Walnut in Philadelphia and, along with his brother, sold their first batch of what they called 'Pine Brothers Glycerine Tablets.
In an attempt to relieve his own sore throat and those of his family members, Mr. Pine, a former German confectionery maker, determined that by combining the soothing natural qualities of glycerin with the healing properties of gum acacia, he could sooth and mitigate the mild discomfort of a sore throat.
Add in some natural flavoring and a sweetener and voila, Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops were born. "I have discovered something," Pine wrote, "which will give quick throat relief to thousands afflicted as I was." He added,"Perhaps I won't make much money out of this. But I can make people happy, and that's more important than money." Mr. Pine was being unduly modest, as his "discovery" would become one of the most successful, most delicious and most unique throat lozenges in the world.
Nor has the recipe changed appreciably since it was first introduced to the public over 140 years ago. In 1930 Pine Brothers was sold to the Life Savers Company and continued to flourish. Known for its 'soft drop consistency,' Pine Brothers lozenges became a favorite of adults and children alike.
The product, which attracted healthiest sales in the eastern and northern states, due to its icy winters, reached its peak popularity in the 1970's. The company was sold by Life Savers, and then, having been re-sold and acquired a number of times, found itself essentially rudderless and under appreciated; this despite a legion of loyal consumers. Cost cutting changes were made to the original recipes, packaging became stale and marketing non-existent; Pine Brothers began to be made overseas. Sales declined.
Recently, Pine Brothers was acquired by the creator and former owner of Airborne, Victoria Knight-McDowell, for her new company 3 Sisters Home Products™. Much time and effort has been spent locating the original Pine Brothers recipes, redesigning the packaging, and creating an exciting yet classic new look.
The natural product is once again being made in America, and is launching nationally in fall 2011. At which time old Mr. Pine, will succeed once again in "making people happy." God bless him!
