Alexa Foods Review

I was recently very excited to be picked to enjoy some products for free from Alexa. So, what did I get? Well, our neighborhood store wasn't very stocked in this brand so I got the Sweet Potato Fries, Waffle Fries and a bag of the Whole Wheat Dinner Rolls. I must say we enjoyed them all but the Waffle Fries were the biggest hit with the Sweet Potato Fries coming in a close second.

I don't know where my head was at the day we baked these in the oven, but before I realized it, we had eaten them without taking a picture! So, all I have is the one I took when I first got back from the grocery store! I don't know what was on my mind that day because we had some really nice fish and I had thrown these Sweet Potato Fries in just for something different and unusual and I guess we just got carried away. As I was eating my last fry, I thought, oh no! You didn't? I was beside myself but nothing to do but grin and bear it. They were really great and I will be getting these again in the future.

They only have to bake for about 20 minutes and you will get to taste how awesome they really are with the slight taste of cracked pepper and sea salt that they place on the fries before putting in the bag to be frozen. Great combination! And they are cut in the julienne style which makes them even crunchier!

Now, these rolls we used when I made a Pot Roast and they were really good! Of course, I love whole grain breads but Mike not so much, so I only baked a few of these as I knew he probably would not touch. I tried to get the regular rolls but like I said, our store was limited, so all they had were these dark whole grain rolls, which I liked but he didn't. Not because of the brand, he just doesn't normally like dark or whole grain anything! They were awesome with the roast and I even put a little roast in between my roll and ate it like a roast beef sandwich and it came out just fine!

Oh, the other thing I liked about them is that they are very crispy or let's say I baked them a little longer than recommended because I love crispy bread. You, of course, don't have to make yours that way, but I love my bread to be crispy so it was heaven for me! These awesome rolls are packed with all kinds of nutrients! Fortified with nutritious flax seeds, soy and sunflower seeds, you'll taste that hearty old-world flavor and texture with new world whole grain goodness.

Now, these Waffle Fries ended up being the winner on all fronts. I did not have any objections when we grilled hamburgers out and I threw these in the oven. Yes, I never fry them on the stove top or use a deep fryer. I bake all of your Fries, regardless of what kind they are. I know that they are not 100% good for you and I am not about to make it even worse by frying them. They have sea salt, pepper, onion and garlic to create an all-natural distinctive taste that you will love!

So, the rule in the house is that they get baked and I will bake them a little extra longer to make them more crunchier so that they have that crisp taste and not a fry that hangs when you pick it up! I wouldn't want my fries to do that anyway, so I make sure they are not limp but one way to resolve that situation is to get Waffle Fries, which is what we normally do get anyway. I still like these kinda crispy too, so we leave in just a few extra minutes and we have nice crispy waffle fries that can match any restaurant in my opinion!

And yes, we got carried away again, and did not get any pictures of us eating or at least a plate of the Waffle Fries.  I have been sick alot lately with some pain issues so my mind is not working at 100% capacity or I don't think I would have let that get by me without taking pictures, so I do apologize for not giving you some nice pictures of what the 2 fries looked like. You will just have to take my word for it that they looked good and tasted good and in the end, that is all that matters, anyway! They truly are awesome!

You can find recipes on their site along with joining their Club 350 program for rewards and up to the minute updates on what is going on in the world of Alexa Foods. You will also be the first to hear about promotions going on.

Besides the breads and potatoes, they have numerous other products to try like appetizers that include onion rings, cheddar bites, mozzarella cheese sticks, mushroom bites and spicy potato bites. Unfortunately, my store did not offer any of those, but I am not giving up! I will search in other stores the next time I have to go out and see if I can find them somewhere else!

Here's a little history about Alexa:
OUR BEGINNINGS: At Alexia, our creativity and passion for the highest quality side dishes runs deep in our roots. As a Manhattan chef, Alex always wondered why there weren't quality side dishes that achieved the same discerning standard as the main entree.
He knew others would agree, and believed he could create distinctive and inspired convenient everyday side dishes that lived up to what he might create in his own Greenpoint kitchen. Alex started by hand selecting the finest all-natural ingredients and producing only small batches making Alexia a hard to find favorite.
Whether seasoning his Beauregard Sweets and Yukon Gold Potatoes or baking the perfect artisan Ciabatta and Focaccia breads, Alex always used real ingredients and put quality and taste first.

So funny - you must have been so hungry that you just forgot about taking pictures! It is okay because I have had their sweet potato fries before and also some of their other products. This review was good and it made me chuckle!
