Freshpet Turkey Bacon Dog Treats Review & Giveaway **Closed**

I have some new dog treats to tell you about that FreshPet makes and they are called Dognation Turkey Bacon Jerky Treats.

They are made fresh with wood-smoked turkey bacon that are of simple, all natural ingredients. No fillers, by-products or preservatives. We were sent 2 packages of these to try and to be honest, I figured Charlie would just turn his nose up at them just like he has done any product that has bacon in it.

Boy, was I wrong! That little booger ate them up like his life depended on it! Surprised the heck out of me and Mike to be honest!

Charlie has been a problem child from the beginning. We went thru just about every dog food out there and finally the vet said to just boil chicken and that is what we have been doing for about 4 years now. Until we finally found a dog food that is organic but even that he will not eat 100% of the time, but he eats enough of it to get his nutrients.

Our next big quest was treats. So, finding these has been a great blessing. They are still new and aren't in the stores yet, but they will be in the coming weeks, mostly to Petsmart and Petco and then I am told next year in Walmart and Kroger.

We had a scare this week with 2 of his absolute favorite treats being investigated and so it scared us enough to take them away so he is kinda going thru withdrawals of not having treats. We don't have but a few of these new Turkey Bacon Jerkys left so I am holding onto them for dear life waiting for Petsmart to get them in.

Normally Charlie likes his food heated just a tad but these Dognation Turkey Bacon Jerkys he is eating right out of the fridge! Which is another big suprise to us. So, I would have to say that they have been an absolute big hit with Charlie!

So, as you can see, he is eating those up in a hurry! I am still amazed I was able to get a picture of him eating them period! He is also awfully camera shy and it is like a big thing around here to get a good picture of him. So, that also tells me he was really into his Turkey Bacon Jerky from Dognation which is a FreshPet company.  I can't wait to get him so more of these so that he won't miss the other treats too badly until we can figure out some way of getting something similar to replace them.

We also did find a few other products from this same company that Charlie has taken a liking to and so we have 2 other treats that he is willing to eat but on a limited basis. Those 2 products are the Dog Joy Treats which you can get in Chicken Flavor and Beef Flavor.

I hope from this picture you an see the Turkey Bacon Jerky a little better and that you can see that it has quite alot of meaty parts to it.  I am just so thrilled we stumbled across this quite by accident by me just reaching out and asking for a product to review. I am so very grateful that we now have an all natural, safe treat for him to eat. They also sent us this lovely little black bag that is insulated to keep all of this food or treats cool if we go somewhere or are travelling. Can't wait to use it sometime!

Oh, just so you know, all Freshpet products need to stay refrigerated to keep them fresh and to keep them from spoiling. It is going to be an individual preference whether your dog will eat them heated or right out of the fridge. Charlie likes them both ways so I have options to choose from.

Found this info in the About Us section:
Almost seven years ago, a bunch of us were talking about how much we love our pets – we let them sleep in our beds, we spend whatever it takes when they get sick, we throw them birthday parties. They’re part of our families. We work hard to give our pets the very best, just like our children - to keep them happy, healthy and safe. And then we turned to what we were feeding them. Most of us were feeding our pets dry, processed corn byproducts and dehydrated meat from a bag. And we all know dogs and cats are carnivores.

Over the next year, we researched, planned and began changing pet food. It wasn’t easy – like any small, passionate group trying to change the status quo, there were sleepless nights, setbacks, and triumphs. But by October of 2006, what was once an idea was a reality. We were cooking high-quality, nutritious and delicious food – food actually designed expressly for pets, with their caloric, metabolic and instinctual needs in mind – in small batches, from fresh, human-grade meats and vegetables, refrigerating it (because it’s fresh food!) and delivering it to more and more stores across the country.

I can also tell you that this week we found these products made by Freshpet that we were able to get in the Chicken and Rice flavor (from the roll) and we slice off a round piece and mix it with his chicken to ensure he is getting his veggies. When you cut into the roll you will immediately see some of the veggies that are there.  All in all, I am extremely happy with Freshpet for making this all happen. We struggled for so long trying to find the right balance for Charlie and maybe this latest scare of some of his food was a good thing that led us to Freshpet.

Keep a look out for those new treats, Turkey Bacon Jerky, that I was telling you about earlier and you can do so by using the Store Locator and checking to see where you can purchase the new Turkey Bacon Jerky.
