I have a great western/cowboy type of romance book for you to read called Taming the Wind written by Tracie Peterson. This is the first cowboy book I believe I have reviewed so this will be a new one for me.
Here is an excerpt:
Though grateful for the blessing of her daughter, Carissa Lowe has accepted that widowhood is her lot in life. Bound by fear and mistrust, she feels incapable of opening her heart again. When Carissa's husband was alive, he was a mean and treacherous man. He had even tried to kill Laura and Carissa one time. It was Tyler Atherton who stepped in to save Carissa. He unfortunately, had to kill Carissa's husband in order to save her. She then went to live with her sister who is also pregnant with her second child. Carissa then decides she will never trust or love another man.
Tyler Atherton has never forgotten Carissa. When he discovers she's living with her sister on a nearby ranch, his life becomes intertwined with the lovely widow's. And Carissa's daughter, Gloria, seems determined to wrap herself around his little finger. But while Tyler longs to provide a home and future for Carissa, he is haunted by an obligation he feels unable to fulfill.
Challenged by mounting hardships, can Carissa and Tyler preserve their fledging love in a land as unforgiving and vibrant as the people who call it home?
Tyler Atherton was working for the next ranch over from Carissa's sister's & her husbands. Their names were William and Hannah. He used to have his own ranch but the government took it away from him because he fought for the South during the Civil War. His family had been killed by Commanches and what men were left took off for Kansas on a cattle drive. The women all stayed together in one place.
Laura's baby came early and it was a boy. She was gonna need lots of care as she was worn out. While this was going on some outlaws came along and kidnapped Carissa thinking she was Hannah, the other rancher's wife. Evidently, there was some bad blood between the two and they demanded a ransom!
I will stop there so I don't ruin the whole book for you, but it is quite interesting! I hope that you will take the time to read it when you can. You won't be sorry for it really kept me guessing!
