Progresso Recipe Starters Review

I was so excited about getting my Progresso Recipe Starters because I had not tried them yet and couldn't wait to make something to see if all the buzz was correct or just alot of talk. Well, it wasn't and they are good! Of course, having great recipes to use the starters is essential so that is why I used theirs for this first time and then thought I would work on my own later.

Here is what I was sent:

1.) Progresso Creamy Parmesan Basil Recipe Starter
2.) Progresso Creamy Roasted Garlic Recipe Starter
3.) $10 Visa Card to buy necessary supplies
4.) Cooking Dish
5.) Measuring Cups
6.) Sauce Scraper

I tried the Creamy Lemon Chicken Recipe because I knew we already had something close to it that we already made and liked pretty good so I started simple with something I knew and instead of making my sauce from scratch, I used theirs and just added some minor touches. So, this one is where we used the Creamy Roasted Garlic and I added a little more garlic, sauteed some onions and threw some capers on top of the chicken when done. It turned it into Chicken Piccata instead of the Creamy Lemon Chicken. So, right there I gave you 2 recipes in one using the same sauce. The picture below is the Creamy Lemon Chicken. I did not want to confuse you with mine so I am using their pictures.
I am a big fan of rice and have loved it for years. Before I was married to Mike, I would make big pots of it on Sundays and then thru the week when I wasn't working my night job, I would fix rice all different kinds of ways. I pretty much lived on it! So, this was really a no brainer for me. You will love this recipe if you don't make it already. Very simple and straightforward, no hard preparing, no wringing your hands is it gonna taste good. Just follow the directions on the can and you will be fine!

Yes, when you go to Progresso's site you will see the above ad and you can click on it and get 50 cents off! I wanted to show you all the types of flavors they had since I only got 2 of them and figured this would do the job nicely. I am so happy that I now have some help with fixing meals because my husband gets bored easily with food and so he doesn't like eating the same thing over and over. I can hardly get him to eat leftovers!

Our next Recipe Starter was the Creamy Parmesan Basil. Now, for this one I used their recipe called Crispy Garlic Parmesan Chicken. I wanted this to really be good so I got fresh shaved parmesan cheese. If you haven't tried it fresh, you really need to because it changes the flavor dramatically!

My husband loves fried chicken but he does not get it here at home! So, we do alot of baking of chicken and other meats and this one fits perfectly. Think of it as using Shake n Bake. Just follow the directions on the can of Recipe Starters for Creamy Parmesan Basil and you won't go wrong. I love the recipe again because it is similar to something that we do anyway and that is breading the chicken and baking it. You really won't have any trouble with either one of these recipe starters.

I hope I helped you to see that these are simple and easy recipes that don't require alot of prep or actual cooking time. None of them are really hard to use and as a matter of fact I tried one more other flavor and that was the Creamy Portabella Mushroom and I used it as Beef Stroganoff using the recipe on the can and just adding an extra can of portabella mushrooms and sauted onions to the mix. So, I hope in my telling you this, it will not make you afraid to try them just as they are or spice them up to fit your taste buds!
