Green Shield Organic Laundry Detergent Review & Giveaway**Closed**

I know you are gonna think I am crazy but I love reviewing laundry products! No, seriously, I really do! I have come across some really good quality, homemade and organic detergent by doing these reviews and I feel better about that because I know I am doing something important for my family and for our planet by limiting the toxins that go into the ground.

I got this wonderful liquid laundry detergent from Greenology Products and it's called Green Shield Organic in the Lavender scent! I know, it is always Lavender, but it's my favorite scent and that is just the way it is. It gives the clothes such a nice clean outdoor meadows like scent that makes me feel loved and protected and calm. It is a nice alternative to harsh detergents that in the past had me even scratching in the middle of the night and I would wake up to scratches all over me!

It has these benefits:

**Formulated for both HE and Standard Machines
**Penetrates Stains, Protects Colors
**Made with Organic Ingredients
**Septic System Safe
**Removes Grease, Dirt and Grime
**Non-Toxic **Hypo-Allergenic
**Not tested on Animals
**Independently Tested - Works Great!
**Safe for People, Pets & our Planet!

Greenology's Lavender Detergent is awesome! It has managed to clean and keep our clothes fresh smelling without any harsh ingredients and it did not fail me. This detergent is USDA Certified Organic detergent that penetrates stains and protects colors and is free and clear of dyes. It is formulated for both High Efficiency and regular washing machines. Best of all, their ingredients come from sustainable resources. Phosphate and petrochemical free. Can't hardly beat that, can you?

I found this paragraph in their Why Us page and was amazed at what information was revealed and wanted to share it with you:
Natural has become an overused marketing term and lost some of its resonance with consumers. It's important, but not as impactful as ORGANIC. There is no mistaking what ORGANIC means. "Natural" is not equated with any government standards like ORGANIC is on food, crops & food processing products with the USDA. We make "Kill Claims" (i.e. Odor Causing Bacteria and Mold). There is no ORGANIC cleaner that we are aware of in the marketplace that is making kill claims. Many of the "safe" cleaners work "decently," but they do NOT kill or remove microorganisms.
So, it looks like they might not all be created equal? More info to ponder on and digest. I can say this though, since I have been using this detergent, our Yorkie, Charlie does not sneeze as much anymore. I don't know if our old detergent was making him sensitive to the smell or what. I have had to go twice this year and get Charlie some allergy shots because scratches like he is tormented! So, if I can make our home more breathable to him, it was worth it because he is a great companion to have around all day while my husband works.

I have noticed though that I was getting a little sensitive to harsh smells myself and had to change the candles that we have out. My allergies have been mild compared to Mike's and Charlie's. But, I don't want them to catch up to me either, so I am gonna be attentive to reading the labels much better and really understanding the difference between what they are saying and what is actually in there.

Besides the laundry detergent, they have a multipurpose spray, bathroom cleaners, glass cleaners, kitchen cleaners and surface wipes. They are all Certified USDA Organic. They also have commercial products too so that means that there are some companies out there doing their part also. GreenShield Organic can be found nationwide in Whole Foods as well as regionally at Fresh Market, Food Lion, Lowe’s Home Improvement, and Wegman’s. Well, I guess I will be checking out Lowe's the next time I go there!
I found this under their History section:
Greenology is the Science of Environmentally Safe Cleaning. Our chemistry can trace it's origins to the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska. Sea Otters, Harbor Seals, Birds & other Wild Life were cleaned with our safe, oil removing chemistries. Motivated by those brief moments of ecological success, today, we are an even more determined company, focused on raising the bar of standards in our industry.
