Dream Lover Book Review

I have the sequel to the book, Pam of Babylon and Don't Forget About Me, and it is called Dream Lover. This is a series of three books and this one is the 3rd book written by Suzanne Jenkins. I wasn't sure if I would like these books but the more I read, the more intrigued I became. Pam acts so differently than what I would have reacted and I kept holding my breath waiting for her to snap out of it and start screaming or hitting someone, but she doesn't. One of the weirdest reactions to something so awful, such an enormous betrayal, that I don't know if I would have even gotten out of the bed!

Here is an excerpt from Dream Lover:
The third book in the Pam of Babylon series, Dream Lover is a compilation of character studies of the women and one man who Jack Smith left behind. Slowly, they make their way to the Long Island village of Babylon for an audience with his widow. No longer in denial and stronger than she thought possible, Pam Smith is able to confront the horror of her marriage in its totality as she draws a new picture of the man she was married to.
The new discoveries she makes empowers her and she is able to maintain her strength and the grace and compassion she’s known for. Truly a formidable woman, Pam conquers her worst demons in Dream Lover.
The first book, Pam of Babylon, shocked me and I did not think I could be shocked again, but Suzanne Jenkins pulled through once more to deliver a book so powerful and full of emotions that I was just speechless! What Pam endures in this story is unbelievable. Women coming out of the woodwork to tell her about their affairs with her husband and one had a child by him. There is also the fact that he had sex with his brother and another gay man who had begged him to leave Pam. The other woman, Sandra had also gotten pregnant in the first book but she miscarried, which if the baby had lived, it might be HIV positive, too, so maybe it was a blessing.

One thing is for sure, Jack knew all along he was HIV positive and then had full blown Aids but he continued to sleep with all of these people, including Pam. I will tell you that poor Pam has full blown Aids also but they think they can control it with meds. If it had been me, I think I would have dug him up and chopped him into little pieces and fed him to the sharks!

Sandra meets a new man and things go smoothly for awhile until he meets Pam and her sister and realizes that these 3 women are a little off balance because they all slept with Jack and they all had either Aids or HIV positive. He thought he could handle all of it but when they met at Pam's ocean home that weekend, he suddenly saw all the problems they would have if she did not give up Pam and her sister, Marie. Even Marie finally finds someone to love and who wants to be with her. Pam is the one who seems stuck.

And for the life of me, I just could not identify with her given all the circumstances that led up to this book. Why would you not be suspicious when your husband stayed in the city all week in an apartment and only came home on the weekends and when he was there, his mind was always somewhere else. And she really believed that their life was fine. Wow! Talk about shock!

I suggest you read this series! I have never encountered a story like this before and it will have you spellbound also. I am not gonna say anything else because the author and Pump Up Your Book firm are offering one winner the chance to win this book. Good Luck!
