Walter Drake Comfort Wedge Review

We recently got to review a great product called the Comfort Wedge that can be used two different ways from the Walter Drake company that sends out the catalogs that you sometimes get and wonder about their products. Well, we don't have to wonder anymore. They actually do have great products and are very friendly and customer service oriented.

I know you remember my telling all of you about my husband having to had to have neck and we didn't think too much of it at the time. But later, when the doctor came out of surgery she was dumbfounded that the MRI's had never in all those years showed that the discs had actually broke in two. They weren't bulging or degenerative but actually broken and she said from the scar tissue it has been for a very long time.

That is why Mike has such a hard time breathing sometimes or would get chocked easily on certain foods. It is a wonder it did not cut his spinal cord in two and paralyze him. Anyway, the surgery has been hard on him and he can't lay flat down anymore.

I got him the Comfort Wedge hoping he could get some relief from time to time switching out the positions, one for reading or watching TV and the other for sleeping. Notice the picture below how you can turn the pillow around:

Mike wasn't too keen on me taking his picture for all the world to see so I used the one off of their website to show you the difference in the angles. Mike said the position he liked best was the one sitting up to watch TV and to read. He is still having an issue with sleeping but it's not because of the Comfort Wedge. He is just not sleeping right, period!

We have tried everything including getting a Sleep Number Bed and he is just miserable most nights. I sure do wish we had known sooner that they were broke in two but he had several MRI's and it did not show up in any of them, so what else can you do?

The Comfort Wedge Pillow cradles head, shoulders, and back for optimal support. Helps aid in breathing and digestion for sound, healthy sleep and can be turned upright for firm back support while sitting. Convoluted, non-allergenic foam. 21"L x 24"W x 12"H. It is only available in white. You can also choose a 50% polyester/50% cotton cover or 100% polysatin cover that is washable for the Comfort Wedge.

Did I tell you that you could also turn it around and use it to scoot it up under my legs (both knees have been replaced) and I tend to get stiff or if I happen to accidently put my legs on top of each other, I will wake up in severe pain where the metal from both knees are dug into each other from sleeping with them one on top of the other.

So, using the Comfort Wedge, I did use it off and on to see if I could train myself to keep my legs propped while I was sleeping. I can do it half of the night then have to change positions but that is better than having no help all night long. So, for both of us, it gave us relief. So, if you have any type of leg problems, whether by accident or illness, I would suggest getting a Comfort Wedge and trying it out.

As far as Walter Drake, you would not believe the gadgets and things that they have that are for fun, health issues, home projects, just for fun, and even some practical stuff. It is sort of like a Target store and once you start looking at the products in the catalog, you will soon want just as many as I do. I love products that can save me time or money or even both! Walter Drake is full of both! They even have Hard to Find Gadgets. Wow, I even found an 80% off Clearance section on down the road.

I love looking thru the catalog especially around the holidays because that is where you see things that you normally would not see. It is a delightful little catalog to look over and wonder what things really do come in handy and which ones get only used once or twice and then forgotten about? I wish I had a shopping spree that I could get as many things as possible for a smaller.

Our whole experience with Walter Drake was great from the ordering process to the shipping department letting us know when it had shipped and of course when it was sent out, to the product meeting and exceeding the standards to the expectations of the product. You are going to love all the goodies that you will find in this delightful little catalog or online. Gosh, there is just too many products to tell you about or I would. It could take pages and pages so it is better if you looked for yourself.

Here is what I found under the Who Are We section:
The Walter Drake Company is a leader in the catalog business — offering cards, gifts, helpful household items, and unique food products. Operating from the shores of the Fox River in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the business consists of several distinct catalogs: Miles Kimball, Christmas Cards by Miles Kimball, and Mrs. Kimball’s Candy Shoppe.

It started almost 75 years ago, when an ambitious young man named Miles went into business with a simple idea: to market a Christmas card in which the design spelled out the name of the sender. With a Minneapolis phone book and some borrowed cash, Miles printed and mailed a card personalized “Johnson” to every household with that name in the Twin Cities. The response was fantastic, and provided Miles Kimball with enough seed money to produce his first catalog.

Decades later, Christmas cards — the idea that started it all — are still produced and personalized in Oshkosh. Specializing in exclusively designed labels, calendars, photo products and gifts, the personal touch continues to be the Miles Kimball hallmark. As we continue to grow, we remain true to our founder’s vision: to provide you with the unique, the unusual and the unexpected. We hope you return to our site often to discover what we have in store.

Mary Bearden personally reviewed these products. I did not receive any monetary compensation for my review, just a sample product. All opinions are mine and belong to me solely. My thoughts and opinions may differ from yours. Mary Bearden and her cranky camera took the photo used in this review except for one with the woman lying on the pillow, that came from Walter Drake's website.

Wow, I really like this, sometimes I sleep with 3 pillows because of my sinus, it's hard to breathe when I lay flat.

I like the idea of the Comfort Wedge. I have chronic pain and the versatility of this wedge looks as though it could be of great help.

I am a side sleep and regular pillows just don't work right but a pillow this shape would work perfect.

Hi Mary,

I wanted to say that I have had sleep issues for the last several years. I finally had a sleep study and I am glad that I did. It turns out I have apnea, and with a CPAP machine, I am sleeping better. I wonder if your husband might consider consulting his physician about a test -- it could make a great deal of difference to his life!

Mind you, I still awake in the middle of the night; still have sleepless hours and days "living like a zombie." But it is better, and I hope that it will be for your husband, too. (I might give this wedge a try -- thanks for the review!)
