Eco Sprout Sponsor Spotlight Review

Oh, you are gonna love this eco-friendly product! Especially you moms out there that are using cloth diapers. I don't have a baby but this laundry detergent is good for just clothes also and I love that it comes in alot of different scents! Eco Sprout came about from a stay at home father who wanted more protection out of the cloth diapers he was using. He said that the ammonia smell never left the diapers completely so he set about testing and finally came up with a formula to erase the ammonia smell.

I got to try the Lavender Chamomile scent. And wow, when I pulled the drawstrings from the cute little burlap/canvas bag that the detergent came in, I could immediately smell the lavender! I am sure by now that most of you know how I feel about Lavender so it was no surprise that I asked for that particular scent. I love the chamomile added to it to give it a softer more cleaner smell. I didn't have diapers to test it on but I had hubby's work clothes that he works outside all day to wash and if they can get all the gunk off of his uniform, then it should make your diapers super duper clean! Gosh, and the scents are to die for! It was hard deciding and I almost changed my mind several times but then stuck with a scent my husband would not object to. They come in (4) sizes:

**96 oz bag: 96 to 192 loads*
**48 oz bag: 48 to 96 loads*
**24 oz bag: 24 to 48 loads*
** 2 oz sample bag: 2 to 4 loads*

And the scents you can choose from are: green tea, ocean blue, lavender chamomile, lilac breeze (seasonal), sandalwood vanilla, in the buff (unscented), fresh linen and warm vanilla sugar. Wow, talking about some great scents! And ones that for the most part should not bother any one member in the family. I think they are good choices for uniform scents when dealing with both sides of the family, it is best to try and find something that they will all like, not just you.

Here is what Eco Sprout said about their product:
Eco Sprout is an environmentally friendly detergent that's great for your entire family. It's SAFE for cloth diapers and sensitive skin. Our detergent is free from dyes, brighteners, enzymes, phosphates and is 100% biodegradable. Finally, a clean you can trust! Check out 'What makes Eco Sprout different?' to learn more.
Since I don't have diapers to contend with and just ordinary laundry, I decided to give you the tips that they recommend for first time buyers who will be using the detergent for diapers. This is what they recommend:
If this is your first time using Eco Sprout detergent, we HIGHLY recommend you soak your cloth diapers with our detergent first. This will help to draw out any build up left behind from previous detergents including soap, grime, minerals, and softeners that are deep inside your diapers and inserts. This will also help to prevent rashes that can occur when switching or mixing detergents. It's easy!:

1.Fill a tub, washing machine, sink or bucket with enough HOT water to fully submerge your diapers in. If you have an HE machine, the tub method usually works the best in order to get enough water.
2.Use 3-4 tablespoons of Eco Sprout detergent mixed in with the hot water, less detergent for fewer diapers.
3.Add all your diapers and inserts and let them soak for 3-5 hours. Overnight if your diapers need a really good soak.
4.Drain all the water from the tub or washing machine.
5.Wash all the diapers and inserts again with 1-2 HOT water washes/cold rinses with NO DETERGENT at all.
6.This will completely rinse out your diapers and they will be nice and clean!

Once this is done, you may continue to wash the diapers with your normal wash routine.
As for the rest of us you should be able to wash as you normally would have. I did however, worked my way up, by starting small and then getting it down pat how much I needed to see and smell the cleanliness. We are all different so I can only tell you my experience and I went lighter because you can always correct that mistake but if you put too much in on the first load, well, you will be living with that scent until the next wash unless you used unscented. Oh, and by the way, they make a few other products like pail freshners, bottom balm, bottom spray and diaper liners. So, they are not just about laundry detergent. Sounds like they really care whether your baby is comfortable or not in their diapers.

Here is a little bit about the Dad, under About Us, who made all of this possible (I did not copy all of it so go read the rest if you can):
Eco Sprout was started by a WAHD, that's right... a Work-at-home-dad who was looking for a cloth diaper detergent that was great for not just cloth diapers, but for the entire family's laundry.

Frustrated by trying various detergents over and over, nothing ever seemed to kick the ammonia smell, both on the diapers and in the pail! All the usual remedies were tried, baking soda, vinegar, special products made just for the ammonia, pail name it! It just got to be overwhelming. There had to be a way to just use one product and simplify the washing process.

Once that thought entered his head...the research began. It wasn't easy, he wanted something that was environmentally friendly, biodegradable, and 100% natural. But it had to work! It had to CLEAN the diapers too. After months of trial and research he finally did it! Came up with the perfect balance that resulted in clean diapers, derived from natural ingredients, 100% bio-degradable, and kicked the ammonia smell! Samples were sent out, family and friends began to use the product and the word got out. Soon thereafter, Eco Sprout was born!
