Seneca Farms Oatmeal Review

I know most of you have heard about Seneca Farms before but did you know that they made really good Oatmeal in several wonderful flavors and they have just added two new ones that I got to try and now I want to tell you a little bit about them. I got to review:

1. Cranberry Apple
2. Maple & Brown Sugar

I was a little skeptical at first because I just don't mix stuff in with my oatmeal other than peaches or strawberries and those are always fresh. Seneca Farms sent these in containers that were kept chilled in shipment and then all I had to do was heat them up for a few minutes in the microwave and stir them up pretty good to make sure the flavor is mixed all the way around. We tried the Cranberry Apple first and my husband was very surprised to find that it really was pretty good for a food that is already made and all you do is pop it in the microwave and its done.

I have to tell you that I could only eat a few small bites just so I would be able to write my review. Most all of my readers know I have a chronic bladder condition that gives me alot of pain and eating or drinking acidy foods, anything with potassium in it, tomato based products, spicy products will cause me severe pain in my bladder so my husband is the tester when things like this pop up. Cranberry is one of the worst things for my bladder, not the apple.

Now, I know that there will probably be some of you out there that will say, "I like to eat it right out of the container cold", but, I just don't see that happening here in my household! My husband would have a heart attack if he had to eat anything cold! He even heats his muffins, brownies, pies, whatever.

Next, we tried the Maple & Brown Sugar oatmeal and that one was more my style than my husband. He likes all that sweet and tart flavors in his food but I don't. But he did comment that it wasn't too bad but that the Cranberry Apple was still his favorite, which is okay because that left more for me! Besides, who wants to be exactly the same on everything?

Not me, I would be bored out of my mind! I did eat one of the containers just like it was (heated of course) but on the other one I got a little creative and added honey & almond granola (not much) just enough to give it a whole new flavor and man was it good! I like my oatmeal a little crunchy (I need the fiber, big time!) so I add the granola to just about anything within reason. My doctor says I don't get enough fiber so I try to sneak some in when I can.

But, if you don't need that extra fiber, the Maple & Brown Sugar is awesome all on it's own. I love Maple on pancakes and I love brown sugar in my oatmeal that I make from scratch here at home. It just gives it a little bit of sinful pleasure to a food product that some might say is quite boring or yucky! Which is what my granddaughter says. I was able to get her to eat a few spoons of Seneca Farm's Maple & Brown Sugar and you know how kid's are, they say the darndest things!

She asked her mother how come she couldn't cook as good as Grandma! We all had a good laugh on that one. But seriously, it really was a very good oatmeal and more important, if you are pressed for time, you can pop those in the microwave and have everything under control in no time!

They do have two other flavors which are Vanilla Peach and Apple Cinnamon. Now, I bet I would have loved those two as they have my favorite spices in them, vanilla and cinnamon! I would get all four and let your family grab the one that they like the best and I bet everyone comes out a winner. You can locate a store near you that sells Seneca Farms by checking out their Locator store.

I found this little bit of tidbit information under the Company Info:
