Longview Farms Day Cream Review

Today I want to tell you about a company called Longview Farms. I was going to say they are a skincare company but they are much more than that. I was sent a jar of their Facial Day Cream with SPF5 to review.

I must tell you in my search for the perfect skincare I have tried on alot of creams, expensive ones and very cheap ones. I have very dry skin more so on my body than face, but still dry! The thing that I noticed right away about this cream was although it looks heavy in the jar, once I put it on it melted and went directly into the skin without any of the heaviness and yes, oily feeling that I have experienced in the past.

I wish I had done a better job of getting a really good picture for you but I have a lousy camera and this one was the only one that came out halfway decent. I did manage to take one with the cream on my hand (I put way more on than what you need on your face). I just wanted you to see how it looked compared to being in the jar.

Longview Farm's Day Cream stimulates the growth of connective tissue, adds nutrients to your skin while giving SPF5 sun protection.

The Emu oil, Oat protein and Allantoin work together to bring the maximum moisture to your skin.

I have never tried a product with Emu Oil before so this was quite new for me.

The lightness of the cream surprised me considering it gives your skin so much moisture.

In the past, most creams that penetrated my dry skin would often feel greasy and later when you touched my face it would roll off. This cream never did that. It actually stayed on my face and I could tell that it was actually going into the skin rather than just laying on top of the skin like past products. They also have a night cream that works in conjunction with their day cream.

For women they have hand & body lotions, makeup, soaps, wrinkle reducing serums, acne products, breast enhancement cream and the prices are really not that bad. I think the most expensive item I saw was $14.95 for Liquid Gold Emu Oil. Everything else seems to stay around the $9.95 department.

They are having a sale right now and have taken a $1 off some of their products. Also, they have a monthly sweepstakes that you really want to sign up for, I did as you know, I can't pass up a free product!

I have not heard or read too much about Emu Oil in products before but it looks like they have an array of different things that they can help in. I looked on Longview Farms website and found out that Emu Oil is good for:

Emu Oil Uses:

* Dry Skin, itchy skin, Psoriasis, Eczema, Roseacia
* Hair Loss, Balding, Alopecia
* Acne, skin irritations
* Dry Scalp, falling hair, scalp itching
* Pain Relief, arthritis relief, sports injuries, swelling
* Dry hair, hair needing conditioning
* Emu oil gel caps for energy, omega 3, health & wellness

I really was interested in the Pain Relief product section on their site as you know I have RA and Fibromyalgia along with a list of other issues but the Pain Relief products would probably help me more with the RA and Fibromyalgia than with the others.

Although, I did notice that they also carry supplements that you take so I may have to look into that and see if it might help with the IBS and the IC (chronic bladder pain). The products range from lotions to roll ons to creams and gels. Then I read this on the supplements you take and I am quoting from their site at this point:

NATURAL & EFFECTIVE! Inner Relief Gel Caps contain pure, wholesome Emu Oil! Here's the SECRET: Emu oil contains Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) necessary for a healthy body. EFAs are involved with producing life energy in our bodies from food substances, and moving that energy throughout our systems.

They govern growth, vitality, and mental state. They hook up oxygen, electron transport, and energy in the process of oxidation. Oxidation, the central and most important moment-to-moment living process in our body, is the burning of food to produce the energy required for life processes. EFAs play a part in almost every function of our body. Customers have told us our "Inner Relief" gel caps have helped ease their bodily problems associated with IBD and Crohn’s Disease. Try it! It may work for you, as well. Omega 3, 6 & 9 all in one gel cap!

I actually have an appointment today with my gastroentronologist and I am going to see if he thinks this might be worth pursuing. I always check (and you should to before taking any medications with your doctor) with him because in the past I believed some articles (even a few doctors who wanted me to take something other than what my gastro doctor ordered) and I ended up in the hospital for 7 days trying to get all that junk out of my system. That time was actual RX meds that I did not need but it convinced me that whether they are RX meds or supplements, I check with him first.

I do though believe in the muscle pain relief gels and creams. My husband and I have both discs in our neck area that give us fits and we use the creams or gels to calm down the muscle aches and pains. I did not know at the time I got the facial cream that they had pain relief gels and creams or I would have been tempted to try those instead.

I have been very impressed by what I have read on Longview Farm's website about Emu Oil. They even have an Emu Oil Institute. It has a wealth of information on what it is all about and what it does. It can answer many questions that I could go on and on about but if you are like me, I prefer to read it myself and especially when coming straight from the "horse's mouth" so to speak. I found that when you try to transfer information or re-tell a story, the words get changed and the meanings may end up different. Go on that site and see the information for yourself because it can explain it better than I can.

For those of you that have pets, they even have products for them! Now, I really am tempted to do some shopping. They have supplements for them too along with a wounded salve, shiny coat topical, skin therapy and food supplements. I have a Yorkie and they are prone to dry skin and he scratches like crazy sometimes!

Then I found a section for men that carries lip balm, splashes and lotion. I am impressed at how many different things that Emu Oil can be used for and not just for women. I especially wanted to bring your attention to this because I know sometimes, as a woman blogger, I tend to veer towards products that I deal with for me. So, finding a company that provides something not just for you but for your pet and your husband/boyfriend was refreshing and the icing on the cake was the pain relief section!

I am now very sorry I did not get better pictures to show all of you and I have learned a lesson from this review. I need to ask for either CD's I can copy pictures from or get codes to their pictures from their website so that I can do justice to their company. I really had thought I was dealing with a skincare for women company and they are so much more than that.

This has been a great learning experience review for me because I understand better the right questions I need to ask from now on and that just because I got an email advertising a sale on their day and night creams, I should not have assumed that that was all they made.

So, please, go to their website and read more about them and the wonderful products that they make and how they make them and what they are all about. I even found out you can just get the pure Emu Oil! Then lastly, I found out they have Gift Combo's you can order for anyone including your pets!

They even have a gift pack for children that includes a book about a girl's journey and meeting strange birds. They also sell a book about Emu Oil and why it works. Longview Farms not only makes the products but they provide you with all kinds of information to help you understand their products.

Lastly, by now you know I am a history buff and I love to know what makes a person start a company or begin a journey so I dug around until I found what I wanted about this great company and here is what I am quoting from their website to give you a better idea of who they are and what their company means to them:

Longview Farms was established in 1992 on a 169 acre farm in northeastern Pennsylvania. Originally we ran approximately 200 head of emu on this farm, and sold Emu oil and Emu oil based products imported from Australia. At that time, there were no companies manufacturing Emu oil products within the U.S. As we grew, we diversified into an emu oil rendering facility. We created our original line of quality Emu oil products in 1993 - 1994, being the first company to create and market a fully-encapsulated Emu oil gel cap as a dietary supplement.

We have since moved our business to a smaller location and no longer raise Emus. We purchase our raw materials from others who raise Emu as a viable livestock. Today we offer approximately 60 products containing or relating to Emu oil. Our quality Emu oil products are offered for sale and shipped throughout the world.

Purina Beneful Dog Food

I got these two bags of trial size Purina Beneful through Vocal Point. Actually, I got one and my daughter got one and she gave me hers because her dog does not like Purina for some reason. These trial sizes were for a new flavor they are coming out with called Healthy Fiesta.

I am writing a review just for the practice, hoping that later I will be able to get more dog related products for my Yorkie, Charlie. He is a very picky eater and we have been through just about everything that Petsmart or my Vet has and he won't hardly eat any of them.

He won't even eat doggie treats! Can you believe that? He won't eat sausage, bacon, cheese, ham, pork or chicken treats. The only treats he will eat are the duck tender jerkies, chicken tender jerkies and the sweet potato french fries (they look just like fries that are orangy).

So, when I opened the bag and he came running and he actually ate two whole handfuls of this dog food! We were both flabbergasted to say the least. But here is the proof:

The little rascal! He was trying to get it out of Mike's hands faster than he could tear it open! I am going to have to write Purina and tell them not to ever quit making that flavor because in all the three years of Charlie's life he has turned his nose up at dog food.

My Vet finally had to tell us to boil chicken w/o the skin, so that has been Charlie's food now for almost 3 years except for the jerkies and the sweet potato fries!! What I liked best about this is that it is Vitamin Rich to support overall good health. It has hard chunks and soft chunks mixed together and he likes it like that.

This is what is in this vitamin packed pouch: protein with real chicken to help build strong muscles, wholesome rice packed with carbs for energy, antioxidants like carrots and tomatoes to help support vision and a healthy immune system and lastly Omega rich with avocado to help promote healthy skin and a shiny coat.

I don't know if any of you take advantage of Vocal Point but they send out all kinds of samples and regular size products to their members to try.

I have always just gone on their site and gave them my opinion but when these came in and Charlie took to it so well, I just had to brag a little more. And, like I said, I needed the practice. So, this time, the review was a fun project for me and we had such a good time playing around with Charlie that I won't go into all the history stuff like I normally do for a formal review.

This is really more like a post to let you know if you have a picky eater like Charlie, then you need to try and get some of Purina's Beneful and this flavor is called Healthy Fiesta.

I will give you a few ways to get in touch with them if you want to check out this awesome product. They have a website called www.Beneful.com. They also have a phone number to call customer service at 1-800-236-3385, Monday to Friday from 7am to 7pm.

I can tell you Charlie was really happy because he normally does not sit too well for pictures so for me to get all these wonderful pictures of him told me he really liked the food and wanted more.

I am going to show one more picture and close up shop on this one because I need to get busy with some other reviews.

Besides my husband as far as males go, Charlie is the love of my life and as you can see he gets treated and pampered to no end.

He is going to the Vet on Tuesday for his yearly shots and to get groomed.

His hair for some reason gets puffy like ours would if we had really curly hair like they did in the 70's with the Afro's!

Once he gets groomed then he looks like he lost 10 pounds! People always ask me if I am feeding him too much and I say "no" because actually he only eats one whole meal and then he nibbles a little at dinner. He does not eat breakfast at all. I think he got that from me because I don't eat either. It is usually 2 or even 3:00pm before my stomach settles and I can eat a little bowl of my cheerios.

So, that is his big meal and then he just snacks the rest of the day. Don't forget if you haven't registered with Vocal Point yet, you might want to do that so you can get great products to try also. One time I got a full size jar of Olay's Pro-X deep wrinkle cream which costs like $26 a jar! Everyone, have a great weekend!

The Republic of Tea Review

By know that by now you guys know I am nuts about tea! So, I have to try each and every one of them until there are no more to find. I found a new one called The Republic of Tea

They sent me 4 kinds of tea to try and this is what I got:

1.) Hibiscus SuperFlower Tea
2.) Caramel Apple with Red Tea
3.) Cinnamon Vanilla
4.) Get Relaxed

I have to be honest and tell you the first one I tested was the Get Relaxed! All of you know I have RA and Fibromyalgia along with IBS and IC (chronic bladder pain). So, I try anything that says it will relax me. This wonderful tea had lavender, rose and organic rooibos.

The minute I broke the seal of this packet the smells assaulted me all at once. I have never smelt anything like this before but I knew I was smelling lavender. I think from just looking at my blog you know I have a thing for lavender and I must be honest, it is my most wonderful smell and color. I have lavender candles and room sprays.

But this tea, was by far the most wonderful smelling tea I have ever had. I have already used both tea bags they sent me and I have kept the packet just to be able to smell it whenever I can because it is that good! I normally don't say this but I am more than likely gonna have to make a huge order for this particular tea, it is that good!

I felt like I was in the tropics, water softly pounding the beach and me laying on the beach so relaxed I could feel my muscles unwind. I have been looking for something besides medicines to give me this feeling and I want to shout to the top of the roofs that I have found that wonderful thing I have been waiting for!!

The next tea I tried was the Hibiscus Superflower Tea. It will make your water red because of the hints of berry and bright citrus flavors. This is a bold tropical infusion with its pure refreshment that you can drink hot or cold.

It says it is a Heart Healthy Tea with African Blossoms. All these teas are caffeine free which I love.

I have rapid palpitations and take meds for it so I have to be careful of what I drink and eat. So, I love it when I can find teas or coffees or whatever that is caffeine free.

This was also a great tea and in keeping with my tropical dream, this was a great tea also in it's own right. If you are a red berry flavored tea lover, than this is the one for you!

Then I tried the Caramel Apple Red Tea and this was really the one that will remind you of Christmas the most.

It has rooibos, apple pieces, caramel and apple flavors, grape pieces, vanilla beans, sunflower petals and safflowers. It was a wonderful full bodied tea that made me want to dream of how I would decorate my house this Christmas. This would be the tea I would serve after dinner while everyone is opening their presents. This is a tea that I can see friends gathering around and having a fun filled day or night filled with laughter and love. You will not be disappointed with this wonderful Christmas filled tea!

Lastly, I tried the Dream by the Fire Cinnamon Vanilla. This one is pretty much what you see is what you get. It has Caffeine free rooibos, natural cinnamon and vanilla flavors. This one is slightly different than Caramel Apple in that it has the dominant flavors of Vanilla and Cinnamon. This is one you could drink anytime you just felt like having a different kind of tea to drink. If you love Vanilla and Cinnamon you won't go wrong with this great tea.

I must tell you that this company tries very hard to be environmentally friendly as all the tea bags are unbleached, does not have wasteful strings, staples or tags. They are made renewable resources including bamboo. It's open weave design allows optimal full leaf infusion. They are perfectly round little bags that pack an abundance of flavors.

All the tea bags should be placed in a cup of boiling water and let set for about 5-7 minutes for the best results. If you want just one cup then they recommend 6 ounces of water. For iced tea, double the amount of tea used and cool and serve over ice.

The only thing I did different than what was recommended was it says to remove the little round bag but I keep my bags in the cup while drinking. I find that it gives the tea that little extra umph that I crave. If you don't like your tea slightly stronger, then I would remove the bag before drinking.

As you know, I try to do a little history about each and every product or company that I review.

I think products have a story to tell and each one is unique and different in their own right.

While cruising The Republic of Tea, I came across this on their website and wanted to share with you how it became what it is today and hopefully give you a glimpse of what they are all about.

This is a quote from their website and I did not change any wording:

Founded in 1992, The Republic of Tea sparked a Tea Revolution. We began by canvassing the most prized tea gardens of the world for their worthiest leaves. Our mission was—and is—to see these teas steaming in the cups of men, women and children everywhere, and to emphasize a Sip by Sip Rather Than Gulp by Gulp lifestyle.

In keeping with our identity as an independent republic, we designate our employees Ministers, our sales representatives as Ambassadors, our customers as Citizens and retail outlets as Embassies.

With supreme good fortune, we have progressed—constantly enriching people’s lives through the experience of premium teas, education and innovation. Our award-winning packaging includes teas and herbs available in specially designed air-tight, light-resistant tins containing either full-leaf teas and herbs or our signature round, unbleached tea bags, free of unnecessary envelopes, strings, tags or staples. Decaffeinated (using a natural CO2 method) varieties are also available. Most of our teas are Certified Gluten-Free by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO).

A socially and environmentally responsible business, The Republic of Tea is dedicated to sharing our prosperity by developing products to support worthy organizations, including Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the Prostate Cancer Foundation, Sunny Hills Services and Room to Read. We are also a member of The Ethical Tea Partnership.

The Republic of Tea’s distinguished collection of teas, herbs, brewed iced teas and tea-inspired products are available at over 20,000 gourmet retailers and restaurants throughout the United States, online, through our mail-order catalogue and by calling 1-800-298-4TEA (832).

I think that sums up the company and their commitment to bringing you the best that they can find. There is so much information available on their website that I could go on forever about them but I am limited in space so I am going to give you all the ways you need to get in touch, read or order to your hearts content. They really are a "tea worthy" company to read about.

They have so much more information than I can possibly write about so I urge you to go to any of the following pages and read what all they are involved in and what they believe in. I was really astonished to find that there is a whole side of tea that I knew nothing about.

Sibu Skincare Review

I was given a great opportunity to review this wonderful skincare and I am so very grateful that I did. I have to admit I was a little skeptical about the bar of soap because we are all under the assumption that bar soaps dry out our skin. Well, that is far from the truth and you have to do some research and digging to find out which ones are better for you. I was able to review 2 products from Sibu Beauty:

1.) Cleanse & Detox Sea Buckthorn Facial Soap
2.) Repair & Protect Sea Buckthorn Facial Cream

I am very fanatical and careful with my skin because of having hypothyroidism, my skin is always dry and does flake occasionally, although more on my arms and legs. But my face can get very dry. I also have stomach issues as alot of you know and I know I do not get the recommended amount of fluids that I should.

The first day that I washed my face with the bar of soap the first thing I noticed was the smell. It has a citrusy lemony smell. I always wet my face first because most cleansers or soaps don't lather very well. Then I usually will wet the bar of soap and then proceed to go all over my face. I want you to know when I did this with the Sea Buckthorn Soap, I had so much lather I looked like I was trying to shave!!

I kid you not, it does not take much and I guess all the oils that are in the soap help it lather up better because I was like, oh, my god, look at all this lather. But one side benefit I got from all that lather is my face was shiny, squeaky clean and the most important thing, it was smooth!

The Cleanse & Detox soap was made to awaken your skin and wash away whatever toxins and stress you acquired during the day. This bar of soap will cleanse, detox, moisturize and repair the skin while creating a protective barrier against UV rays and damaging free radicals. If you live in the city, this is something you really might want to check out.

This soap is 100% natural and made for all skin types with the added bonus of being able to inhibit bacterial growth! Now, you tell me, is that not worth it? I gently ran my hands over my face when I dried my face off and it was nice and smooth and had that clean and shiny look to it.

After I finished washing my face I applied the Repair & Protect Facial Cream. It was not heavy and had a very light creamy feel to it. This is a daytime facial cream that helps to boost collagen production and create a healthy natural moisture barrier. I can tell you when I put it on it immediately soaked right into my skin.

Remember, I have very dry skin and usually any light facial creams will do that to me. The difference is that the other creams vanished at that point and I could not tell I had put anything on because my skin basically devoured it. The Sea Buckthorn Day Cream actually penetrated but also stayed on my face to keep it smooth. I don't use much makeup anymore since I found mineral loose foundation and before I used these products the powder would stick in certain places and I would have to try and rub it around.

That did not happen with this facial cream. I was able to apply my mineral foundation and light shimmer (I use instead of blush) and I had the most natural looking skin that I have ever had, well, except for when I was a teenager.

I went on Sibu's blog and on there is a video that Dr. Oz made explaining how the medical world is beginning to see how important Sea Buckthorn is in our lives. He gave an illustration using mice and one had the Sea Buckthorn in its diet and the other one did not. The mouse that did not have it in his diet was like 3 times bigger than the mouse that had it mixed in with his food.

You have got to go see this video! It will be on the website at the very top of the site and you will see "watch video" so that you can see for yourself. And from what I understand from my friends, if Dr. Oz says it is so, then you can take it to the bank. So, I am guessing Sibu Beauty must be very pleased to see that doctors are actually proving that Sea Buckthorn does have some very good benefits for us on the outside and on the inside!

Sibu Sea Buckthorn Berries are:

*All Natural *Full of Omega 3,6,7,&9
*Wild-Crafted *Natural Source of Vitamins A,B,C & E
*Easily Sustainable *Gluten Free
*Fair Trade *Powerful Antioxidants/190 bioactive nutrients

Sibu has an array of products for just about everything you will need to keep your skin looking great from the inside to the outside. They have liquid supplements to revitalize & renew along with pills that have sea buckthorn oil with omega 7 to help with cellular support.

They do carry night creams, body creams, eye cream, hydrating serum, a balancing facial cleanser if you prefer that over the detox bar of soap and they also have Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil to help relieve the symptoms of rosacea, acne, eczema and dermatitis. It is safe to use on children. It is touted as a Traditional Asian Beauty Treatment.

and from the website you can go to their blog at the upper right hand corner and there are the links to Twitter, Facebook and their blog which I noticed had a listing of where all the contests are going on now to win some Sibu products. They also have a great video there to watch.

Tortuga Rum Cake Review

I have got a very great company I want to tell you about today! This company, Tortuga is really on the ball, because I just asked last week if I could review any product they wanted to send and it came this week! That was really fast and it told me something about this company and that is they are very Customer Service oriented. In this day and age, that is a rare and wonderful thing. They sent me a mini rum cake to review along with a box of Chocolate Rum Turtles with salt.

We had to taste the Rum Turtles right away. My husband loves Turtles anyway and this was a real treat for both of us. The candy was moist and very nutty and then the rum flavor hit us and we both looked at each other and said, WOW! Needless to say, we have just about finished that box of candy! You have got to try this candy.

You can get a box of 12 turtles for $13.99 and it is worth every penny. I will be keeping this company in mind when doing my Christmas shopping this year for my husband. We are very picky about our candy and when I find one that he really enjoys, I try to get it for him on special occasions. This is a quote from their site and media kit they sent me and it sums it all up pretty good so I wanted to use it:

Tortuga Turtles are like savoring fine wine. The first burst of sweetness is balanced and enhanced with a distinctive rum flavor and salty nut taste for a thoroughly satisfying, delicious finish according to Monique Hamaty-Simmonds, president and CEO of Tortuga Imports Inc/Tortuga Rum Cake Company, whose father founded the Tortuga Rum Company in the Cayman Islands in 1984.

I also learned that when Columbus discovered their island, the Cayman Islands, he named it Las Tortugas which is the Spanish word for "turtle" because he saw alot of turtles sunning themselves on the shores. The turtle is the emblem of the Cayman Islands and that inspired the family to name their rum company, Tortuga.

I love to tell a little fun facts in my reviews because I find it interesting to know how and why companies start and how long it might have been in the same family. I am a big history buff so this sort of thing appeals to me and I hope you have learned something that you did not know.

Next, I would like to tell you about the Golden Rum Cake! They have so many flavors to choose from besides the Golden Rum Cake and I am sure it is the universal favorite and plus you don't want to send flavors because everyone is different and that would be too hard to send.

The list of flavors are: Cinnamon Raisin, Key Lime, Blue Mountain Coffee, Pineapple, Coconut, Banana, Chocolate and the Original Golden with Walnuts, which is the one I got to review!

First thing I noticed right away was the way it was wrapped. It came in one of those freeze dried wraps that suctions out all the air much like you do when you are storing your summer clothes in the winter. I learned they are heat sealed to lock in the freshness and can keep up to 12 months or indefinitely if refrigerated or frozen!

That told me that they wanted the cake to arrive as fresh as possible and that the company really put some thought into how to get their products shipped out from the Islands. By the way, they have stores in the Grand Caymans, Jamaica, Barbados and the Bahamas along with worldwide distribution, food service and a mail order & online sales from Miami, Florida.

Next, we cut the cake in half so we both got the same amount of cake and I noticed it was so moist it stuck to my knife and my fingers! I love it when my cakes do that because it tells me it is so moist and I love them that way! Nothing is worse than a dry cake that you can't even swallow. When the cake hit my mouth, it was so buttery and smooth, then the full rum flavor hit me as I was chewing and swallowing.

Gosh, I sure wish I had more at that moment or that I had not shared with my husband! I can't wait to try out the Chocolate one or the Coffee one. I think I will have to order one of those either for Thanksgiving or Christmas. The cakes range from 16 oz to 33 oz sizes and the price ranges from $17 to $32.

You can also find these cakes in specialty food departments and gourmet stores throughout the United States and the Caribbean by mail order at 800-444-06254 and online at www.tortugarums.com.

Lastly, I wanted to give you a few options on how to dress up the cake or incorporate it into something more elegant and mouth watering:

*Mix in strawberries, raspberries and blueberries and serve with the cake.
*Decorate with icing or whipped cream flowers and rosettes. Add candy sprinkles or shaved chocolate.
*Drizzle chocolate sauce on a slice of Golden Rum or raspberry sauce on Chocolate Rum or cream cheese icing on Cinnamon Raisin (my favorite)!
*Heat a slice for just a few seconds and top with ice cream (your choice)
*Cut up chunks of cake and dip into chocolate fondue
*Create Bananas Foster with their banana rum cake (recipe on website)

They have alot more products than the ones I listed and you can find all of them on their website. They range from rums, cakes, fudge, sauces, chowder, coffee, punch mix, flasks and gourmet gift baskets!

The gift baskets look really awesome! I have listed several ways you can get in touch or order from Tortuga and I hope you visit and just feast your eyes on all the wonderful products that are available.

Wholly Guacamole Review

I was very grateful to be able to review this company and their products. I love avocado and really like it on all my Mexican food when we eat out. I never could make it taste as good as what we got eating out until I tried Wholly Guacamole's dips!

Now, I don't have to worry about making my dips as good as what my favorite Mexican restaurant! They do have more products than the ones I got to review so check out their website for a list of what they have and if you need to know the ingredients because of any health issues.

Here is a list of the products I got to review:

*Classic Guacamole
*Classic Guacamole that is 100 calories per serving
*Spicy Guacamole
*Spicy Guacamole that is 100 calories per serving
*Medium Salsa
*Mild Salsa

We tried the Salsas first as we love chips and salsa. I loved the mild because I have GERD and have to be very careful about what I eat. The minute the salsa hit my mouth I knew this product was very fresh! I could taste the cilantro and the garlic and without those ingredients most salsas are bland.

Wholly Guacamole had the insight to know this and made their salsa with fresh ingredients to tickle your fancy. The only downside that I can attest to is that you will eat more than you planned to because it is that good!

Those of you who have GERD like I do can take this to heart because it did not give me heartburn. Of course, I take daily medication to prevent heartburn but even that has not stopped it if I eat something that is really acidic. I would recommend that you do not try the medium if you have GERD.

It is alot more spicy and if you are one of the fortunate ones who can eat anything higher than mild, my husband was in heaven and for him to say that is saying alot! He loves everything spicy or hot and sometimes even hotter than hot. Suffice to say, we both got what we wanted and that is a rare occurrence.

The Guacamole dips were my next favorite as I said before, I love avocados on all my Mexican food so this was a real treat. Because their products are made 100% natural with no preservatives, it is best to buy them like you would your milk because it will expire quicker than most other products that do have preservatives.

It is really worth it to get the rich, flavorful and very tasty dips in my opinion. Just add it to your milk list along with other perishable foods and you will always have fresh guacamole in your fridge for when you want to have chips and dip!

Naturally, there are alot of other ways to use both of these dips and they have all kinds of recipes on their website for you to try out. One way I use salsa is when I make Chili, I will pour a small jar of salsa into the chili instead of regular tomatoes.

It really brings an extra Umph! to Chili, I guarantee it! As for the Guacamole dips, they can be used on sandwich's, hot dogs, fish sticks, any kind of fish and then my favorite Lobster rolls! Check out their recipes and suggestions at eatwholly.com

The other great thing I liked about Wholly Guacamole is that they made their dips in regular and in 100 calories per serving! So, if you are watching your weight, you do not have to give up the mouth watering flavor. Another great side benefit of this product is that it has more potassium than bananas and contains good fats that will help you lower your cholesterol (which I have also!) I also learned on their website that an avocado is considered a fruit not a vegetable! I would never have guessed that one.

And did you know that you can make your own avocado tree? It says on the website to wash the seeds, put 3 toothpicks into the seed and turn it big end down into a glass of water enough to cover 1" of the seed. Put in a warm place by a window for sunlight, keep a check on the water level and the roots should start appearing about 2-6 weeks!

Only bad thing is they say it takes between 5-13 years to flower and bear fruit! I love the science part of things so I just had to throw that in there. So, if you want to make your own avocado tree, you better get busy!

This is a quote from their website on how Wholly Guacamole got started:

In 1989, Dallas restaurant owner, Don Bowden began searching for a pre-made guacamole to serve in his Mexican restaurants. It had to be fresh-tasting and all-natural. The problem is that avocados start to brown as soon as you cut them open. He knew that solving this problem without using lots of additives and preservatives would not be easy. But to know Don is to love him; and if you know Don you know he doesn’t do anything the easy way. He does it the right way.

In his search, Don discovered High Pressure Processing (HPP) technology. It’s a process of preserving foods through the use of high-pressure water rather than with heat or chemicals and is used in the preservation of some meats and vegetables. With guacamole, the end product is a completely 100% all-natural, fresh tasting product that can be refrigerated for weeks and frozen for months. The salt in our product is used for flavor only. The HPP technology is also the reason our product is able to retain the same great taste, texture and natural vitamins while ensuring the highest level of food safety.

Sacred Rose Tea Review

I have another great tea company I would like to tell you about, Sacred Rose Teas! They sent me two of their loose teas to try, Inner Peace and Dreamtime. As you can see from the picture above, the bags are packed full of their wonderful tasting tea! I felt very pampered and honored to get the two boxes. They came in pink & brown striped boxes tied up with pink ribbons! I felt like a fairytale princess getting a present from her prince.

Both teas were very tasty and I could tell they had chamomile in them with the first sip! Depending on how much you put in the pot or cup to seep, you will get a greenish color of tea. Most chamomile teas will be a greenish or yellowish color.

So, do not be alarmed that it does not turn brownish. I have only tried these two teas hot because if you are trying to achieve what I wanted which was calmness and sleep, you do not want to have your tea iced. I was very pleased with both teas and would recommend them to anyone that needs a little help sleeping or has an upset stomach.

All of you by now know I have several health issues so the two teas that were sent to me were exactly what I needed. Inner Peace calms and relaxes you along with helping with an upset stomach. I was taking alot of phenegran for upset stomach and after trying Inner Peace tea, I was able to cut that in half! Dreamtime helps people with insomnia and helps you sleep better. I have always believed in teas that contain chamomile. I drink them alot and can tell you that they do work and it's better than taking a sleeping pill (which I no longer have to take)!

Below is the full list of their teas:

Morning Blossom (peppermint,spearmint,rose,ginger,alfalfa)
Mother of Earth Zest (ginger,spearmint,fennel,sage)
Inner Peace (chamomile,sage,passion flower)
Clearing Tea (black walnut bark, taheebo, spearmint, sage, rose hips)
Soul of the Rose (cloves, alfalfa, rose hips, pink rose buds)
Dreamtime (passion flower,skullcap,chamomile,Valerian)
Beloved (damiana leaf, jasmine, hibiscus, hawthorn, pomegranate, wild cherry bark )
Matri (nettles,red raspberry,rosehips,alfalfa,dandelion,lemon,ginger)

This is a quote from their site that I could not have said any better so I decided to use their words:

Please see a doctor for real medical diagnoses and treatments. You can get a more detailed description from their website: www.sacredrosetea.com

While cruising the site I discovered that if you do not have your own infusers or teapots, you can order those also from their website! They also have two elixir's, Solar Rose Flower Crystal and Desert Rose Flower Crystal which come in 1 oz. bottles for $22.00 each.

The other interesting thing I found was that Maria Pologeorgis does Vibrational Somatic Therapy Sessions for 1 1/2 hours but are only available in NY, NJ, PA and FL. I wish I lived in either of those states so I could go and see if they could help me. I do know your mind has alot to do with how well you cope with things but sometimes the body overrides the mind, like in my case! To me, it would be worth it to find alternative ways to deal with pain.

Maybe, someday, she will expand or I will be in her area, and give it a try. For now, though, the teas are working pretty good in keeping my stomach settled and helping me sleep a little better without having to take pills.

Preparation for Sacred Rose® Organic Herbal Teas:

To retain the aroma & flavor of Sacred Rose® Organic Herbal Teas, infuse one teaspoon of your favorite Sacred Rose® Blend into one cup of boiling water for 3-5 minutes. For an 8 to 10 cup pot, steep one to two tablespoons of your favorite Sacred Rose® Organic Herbal Tea in boiling water for 5-8 minutes. The tea is sent in 3 oz. boxes for $18.00 each.

Teamotions Review

I want to tell all of you about a great new tea company I found while cruising the Internet for teas.

I do think I have seen this company reviewed on some other sites but I found them thru a search on teas.

And of course, since my blog is titled Mary's Cup of Tea, I decided I needed to get on the ball and try to start reviewing all the different teas that are out there.

I have to admit this was my first cold calling email on a tea review and I was terrified.

Of what, I don't know because the worse that could happen would be "no" and when I got the email saying they would be more than happy to send me some different flavors to try, I was so excited, proud and very grateful that another company had faith in me and their tea to let a new blogger try.

Here are the flavors they sent me:

*Lemon Vanilla Green Tea - Discover Joy/Feel happier and uplifted
*Citrus Strawberry White Tea - Have Hope/Renews hope and optimism
*Apple Cinnamon Chamomile - Enjoy Rest/Relax and unwind along with calmness
*Passionfruit Jasmine Gree Tea - Find Strength/Regain self confidence
*Rooibos Coconut Chai - Seek Peace/Restores inner peace and encouragement
*Vanilla Earl Grey - Achieve Clarity/Clears and calms your mind

First off, I need to remind you that these teas are loose leaf teas, not in tea bags so you will need either a strainer or a simmering teapot. I have both and either way will work. On the teapot it has it's own strainer and you just put however much you want into the strainer and then pour boiling water over that and let it simmer for about 3 minutes. Or if you have a hand held strainer, just hold that over a cup and pour boiling water over the tea.

If you want your tea stronger, let the strainer sit on top of the cup while the loose tea makes the tea stronger. I really like the flavors and don't want it that strong so I drink mine as soon as the 3 minutes are up. You can use honey or sugar to sweeten your tea or drink it without any sweetener. Whatever your preference does not matter as this tea is so flavorful it can stand on its own without any added ingredients.

The far right tea is the Vanilla Earl Grey and the one I tried first. The vanilla flavor is slight and sweet with the Earl Grey being dominant.

I loved this one very much because I am a big fan of British tea, which is a little bit stronger than American tea.

I added honey to this one so that it would not take away any of the flavors. The middle tea is the Rooibos Coconut Chai.

If you are into Chai tea, this is one of the best I have tasted in awhile!

Of course, you also have to like the taste of coconut or you won't like this tea. Again, I opted for honey in keeping with the natural flavors. I did add a touch of cream to make it more of a chai looking tea and it was almost like eating a coconut cream pie! So, if you are watching your weight and have to forgo the sweets, then this little tea will satisfy your hunger and make you feel like you ate that piece of pie! On the far left is the Citrus Strawberry White Tea.

Mmm, the possibilities of this tea is endless. I did use sugar on this one so that all I tasted was the Strawberry and Citrus. The tea will have a faint reddish color depending of course on how much you use. I did not want to cram too many pictures here so I will just tell you that the Apple Cinnamon Chamomile is so fragrant, just like the candles you get at Christmas. And the cinnamon was spot on. And boy, does it make the whole kitchen smell just like Christmas!

The Passionfruit Jasmine Green Tea is a little more subtle but with a fruity flavor that is so fine and paired with a green tea to give you one of the most natural tasting teas. This one would be for those of you who want everything to be and taste just like nature. Lastly, Lemon Vanilla Green Tea is exactly what is says it is. On this one I did something a little out of the ordinary because I like lemon in Iced Tea but not hot tea so I added as my sweetener a little more vanilla. But, if lemon is your thing, this will be perfect for you.

The thing I like most about this company is that they give everybody the possibility of having whatever flavor you fancy. We don't all like the same thing and that's a good thing because if we all liked and wanted the same flavors it would be very boring. Get out there and don't be afraid to sample something new that you have not tasted or drank. You will be surprised to find you like alot of different things that otherwise you would not have tried or experienced.

All of these teas are also meant to help you with your mental well being. I gave a brief description above when I listed the samples I was sent.

Here is a quote from the company's website that I found very interesting and explains the reason why these teas were made:

Teamotions is more than a tea company; it’s our ministry of comfort. In 2008, I lost my twin daughters just days after they were born. Struggling to cope, I found solace in tea. One day my sister Crystal said, “I wish there was something I could put in your tea to make you feel better.” Knowing nothing like that existed, we decided to create it.

We are honored to share with you our line of handcrafted teas blended with adaptogens- herbs that help the body handle stress, boost immunity and support emotional well-being- transforming a simple cup of tea into a truly healing experience. May they comfort you as they have us and inspire you to comfort others.
