Today I want to tell you about a company called Longview Farms. I was going to say they are a skincare company but they are much more than that. I was sent a jar of their Facial Day Cream with SPF5 to review.
I must tell you in my search for the perfect skincare I have tried on alot of creams, expensive ones and very cheap ones. I have very dry skin more so on my body than face, but still dry! The thing that I noticed right away about this cream was although it looks heavy in the jar, once I put it on it melted and went directly into the skin without any of the heaviness and yes, oily feeling that I have experienced in the past.
I wish I had done a better job of getting a really good picture for you but I have a lousy camera and this one was the only one that came out halfway decent. I did manage to take one with the cream on my hand (I put way more on than what you need on your face). I just wanted you to see how it looked compared to being in the jar.
The Emu oil, Oat protein and Allantoin work together to bring the maximum moisture to your skin.
I have never tried a product with Emu Oil before so this was quite new for me.
The lightness of the cream surprised me considering it gives your skin so much moisture.
In the past, most creams that penetrated my dry skin would often feel greasy and later when you touched my face it would roll off. This cream never did that. It actually stayed on my face and I could tell that it was actually going into the skin rather than just laying on top of the skin like past products. They also have a night cream that works in conjunction with their day cream.
For women they have hand & body lotions, makeup, soaps, wrinkle reducing serums, acne products, breast enhancement cream and the prices are really not that bad. I think the most expensive item I saw was $14.95 for Liquid Gold Emu Oil. Everything else seems to stay around the $9.95 department.
They are having a sale right now and have taken a $1 off some of their products. Also, they have a monthly sweepstakes that you really want to sign up for, I did as you know, I can't pass up a free product!
I have not heard or read too much about Emu Oil in products before but it looks like they have an array of different things that they can help in. I looked on Longview Farms website and found out that Emu Oil is good for:
Emu Oil Uses:
* Dry Skin, itchy skin, Psoriasis, Eczema, Roseacia
* Hair Loss, Balding, Alopecia
* Acne, skin irritations
* Dry Scalp, falling hair, scalp itching
* Pain Relief, arthritis relief, sports injuries, swelling
* Dry hair, hair needing conditioning
* Emu oil gel caps for energy, omega 3, health & wellness
I really was interested in the Pain Relief product section on their site as you know I have RA and Fibromyalgia along with a list of other issues but the Pain Relief products would probably help me more with the RA and Fibromyalgia than with the others.
Although, I did notice that they also carry supplements that you take so I may have to look into that and see if it might help with the IBS and the IC (chronic bladder pain). The products range from lotions to roll ons to creams and gels. Then I read this on the supplements you take and I am quoting from their site at this point:
NATURAL & EFFECTIVE! Inner Relief Gel Caps contain pure, wholesome Emu Oil! Here's the SECRET: Emu oil contains Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) necessary for a healthy body. EFAs are involved with producing life energy in our bodies from food substances, and moving that energy throughout our systems.
They govern growth, vitality, and mental state. They hook up oxygen, electron transport, and energy in the process of oxidation. Oxidation, the central and most important moment-to-moment living process in our body, is the burning of food to produce the energy required for life processes. EFAs play a part in almost every function of our body. Customers have told us our "Inner Relief" gel caps have helped ease their bodily problems associated with IBD and Crohn’s Disease. Try it! It may work for you, as well. Omega 3, 6 & 9 all in one gel cap!
I actually have an appointment today with my gastroentronologist and I am going to see if he thinks this might be worth pursuing. I always check (and you should to before taking any medications with your doctor) with him because in the past I believed some articles (even a few doctors who wanted me to take something other than what my gastro doctor ordered) and I ended up in the hospital for 7 days trying to get all that junk out of my system. That time was actual RX meds that I did not need but it convinced me that whether they are RX meds or supplements, I check with him first.
I do though believe in the muscle pain relief gels and creams. My husband and I have both discs in our neck area that give us fits and we use the creams or gels to calm down the muscle aches and pains. I did not know at the time I got the facial cream that they had pain relief gels and creams or I would have been tempted to try those instead.
I have been very impressed by what I have read on Longview Farm's website about Emu Oil. They even have an Emu Oil Institute. It has a wealth of information on what it is all about and what it does. It can answer many questions that I could go on and on about but if you are like me, I prefer to read it myself and especially when coming straight from the "horse's mouth" so to speak. I found that when you try to transfer information or re-tell a story, the words get changed and the meanings may end up different. Go on that site and see the information for yourself because it can explain it better than I can.
For those of you that have pets, they even have products for them! Now, I really am tempted to do some shopping. They have supplements for them too along with a wounded salve, shiny coat topical, skin therapy and food supplements. I have a Yorkie and they are prone to dry skin and he scratches like crazy sometimes!
Then I found a section for men that carries lip balm, splashes and lotion. I am impressed at how many different things that Emu Oil can be used for and not just for women. I especially wanted to bring your attention to this because I know sometimes, as a woman blogger, I tend to veer towards products that I deal with for me. So, finding a company that provides something not just for you but for your pet and your husband/boyfriend was refreshing and the icing on the cake was the pain relief section!
I am now very sorry I did not get better pictures to show all of you and I have learned a lesson from this review. I need to ask for either CD's I can copy pictures from or get codes to their pictures from their website so that I can do justice to their company. I really had thought I was dealing with a skincare for women company and they are so much more than that.
This has been a great learning experience review for me because I understand better the right questions I need to ask from now on and that just because I got an email advertising a sale on their day and night creams, I should not have assumed that that was all they made.
So, please, go to their website and read more about them and the wonderful products that they make and how they make them and what they are all about. I even found out you can just get the pure Emu Oil! Then lastly, I found out they have Gift Combo's you can order for anyone including your pets!
They even have a gift pack for children that includes a book about a girl's journey and meeting strange birds. They also sell a book about Emu Oil and why it works. Longview Farms not only makes the products but they provide you with all kinds of information to help you understand their products.
Lastly, by now you know I am a history buff and I love to know what makes a person start a company or begin a journey so I dug around until I found what I wanted about this great company and here is what I am quoting from their website to give you a better idea of who they are and what their company means to them:
Longview Farms was established in 1992 on a 169 acre farm in northeastern Pennsylvania. Originally we ran approximately 200 head of emu on this farm, and sold Emu oil and Emu oil based products imported from Australia. At that time, there were no companies manufacturing Emu oil products within the U.S. As we grew, we diversified into an emu oil rendering facility. We created our original line of quality Emu oil products in 1993 - 1994, being the first company to create and market a fully-encapsulated Emu oil gel cap as a dietary supplement.
We have since moved our business to a smaller location and no longer raise Emus. We purchase our raw materials from others who raise Emu as a viable livestock. Today we offer approximately 60 products containing or relating to Emu oil. Our quality Emu oil products are offered for sale and shipped throughout the world.
