Gorton's Seafood off and on my whole life but recently reconnected with them when I saw that they had updated alot of their products so I was doubly grateful when I was allowed to review some of their products for you! I got to review the Butterfly Shrimp and the Classic Crunchy Golden Fillets.
I chose to get 2 boxes of the Butterfly Shrimp for a meal because my husband is nuts about Butterfly Shrimp and because I knew I would not be able to get him to eat grilled fish or shrimp. I did not want to waste food so I was not able to get a 3rd product to review. But, like I said, I have eaten Gorton's products before so I have tried several other products and I will tell you about them later after I tell you about the 2 I did review.
Lord, my daughter one time did that and those were the hardest shrimp I think I have ever tried to eat! Follow the directions on the box, but be aware, that all ovens are not the same so I always keep a check on anything baking in the oven until I see how they do.
My oven tends to heat faster so I have to shorten the time that is on the box, but start with what they say and just keep an eye on it and you should be okay. The Butterfly Shrimp are crispy and great tasting by themselves but we have tried it the way that was on Gorton's recipe page on their website. It is called Butterfly Shrimp with Key West Sauce.
Now, for the Golden Fish Fillets we just ate them the way they came out of the box! I am not one to mess with a good thing too much and if this had been the grilled fish I would have gotten a little more fancy but we like our fish with just cocktail sauce or tartar sauce so we left it at that. I love crunchy fish just as much as I do shrimp and I was not disappointed with Gorton's Golden Fish Fillets!
We also took french bread and cut into smaller sections and made fish sandwich's similar to what you get at some fast food restaurants. Then you just add some lettuce and tartar sauce with a little bit of diced up dill pickles and you have the perfect fish sandwich.
Other than that, he really has no interest in grilled shrimp. I, on the other hand, love grilled seafood and I will order when out but for home, I have to prepare what everyone will eat, not just me.
When I make the Shrimp Scampi I will add some onions and mushrooms along with grated parmesan cheese and capers then pour all of this on top of the thin spaghetti! It is really good. I hope you try it sometime and you will be amazed at how much it almost tastes as good as going out to eat! You can also throw a little fresh parmesan on top of the whole dish when you get ready to eat if you are into cheese as much as were are. It really makes the dish pop then!
Gosh, Gorton's has so many other products to try other than the three I told you about and I hope you check them out and see what they have to offer. They have two types of salmon, two types of grilled shrimp, 4 types of tilapia, 3 types of fish tenders, 5 types of shrimp, 3 types of battered fish, 5 types of natural grilled fillets, 4 kinds of breaded fillets and one fish stick. I bet you can find something in there for everyone!
I am going to change the history a little bit and give you a snippet of what Gorton's has to say about going "green":
