Angel Evolution Book Review

As you all know I start my reviews with a preview of what is on the back or inside of the book then I give you my view of what I read:

Angel Evolution is the first book in the young adult fantasy trilogy: The Evolution Trilogy... When Taylor meets Gabriel at college, she is in awe of the subtle glow that surrounds him. No one else, not even her best friend, seems to notice. Something about him scares her. Is all as it appears? While Taylor struggles for answers, she finds herself in the middle of a century old war centered on one miraculous revelation: evolution.

When I first started reading this book I wasn't sure who was on what side and it kept me guessing who was the "bad" side and who was on the "good" side. This story starts with Taylor who is in college with her long time best friend, Samantha and they are also roommates on the college campus. Unkown to both of them, two completely different creatures are watching Taylor's every move in order to get her alone and tell her a story that is both unbelievable and scary.

One of the creatures is Gabriel who can fly and lets Taylor believe that he is an Angel and that he is on the good side and that they are fighting against the "bad" demons. What he leaves out is that they are in fact the not so good guys and that they want to "use" Taylor in their fight with the other demons.

Interesting thing is they are both from the same demons but had a falling out and separated. The leader of Gabriel's side actually uses humans to continue his youthful appearance by draining their power from their bodies. He is the only one that does this but now he wants to use Taylor to help his armies gain strength and power so that they can overcome the other demons who stand in their way. The other demons are the only ones who stand in the way of Gabriel's side taking over and using all humans to help them live longer.

The story almost led me to believe that Gabriel would choose Taylor over his kind but in the end he did betray her and took her to his leader's hideout and they did almost succeed in destroying her but she was rescued by her friend Sam and the other demon. They thought she was dead and almost was but was able to survive. Gabriel though, was arrested and charged with treason because at the last minute, he too, had tried to save Taylor and the leader had seen what Gabriel had done and had him taken away.

Taylor and Sam returned to school and tried to act like nothing had happened and when school was over, Taylor got word that Gabriel was still alive and awaiting trial. We will have to wait for the second installment to find out how Taylor and her friends along with the demon are able to help Gabriel to escape his fate and reunite with the woman he has grown to love and Taylor loves him also. Even if neither of them knows this, they will fight to have the chance to tell each other.

This was a pretty good book and I just bet your teenager would love this if they are into fantasy. Heck, I even enjoyed it and I usually don't like these types of books where everything is so over the top that it is hard to believe but the story was told in such a way that it sucked you into it and had me cheering Taylor on and hoping that Gabriel would not betray her. There is no adult only language or scenes so it is a good book to get another teen for Christmas if they like this type of book. It is clean cut and just pure fun to read!
