Peeled Snacks Review & Giveaway **Closed**

I would like to tell you about a great organic fruit company called Peeled Snacks today and how their dried fruits taste. I love certain fruits but because of my stomach issues alot of times they spoil (fresh fruit) before I have a chance to eat them. I can only handle fruit maybe a couple times a week so it was very important for me to find an alternative that would not be expensive and one that would last longer than fresh fruit. Peeled Snacks is an organic, sugar free, dried fruit company that brings you natural fruits that provide a full serving of fruit without the hassle of worrying how long will it last before it spoils.

Their snacks are a great source of vitamins and minerals to boot! The pouches of fruit that I received to review had expiration dates of spring 2012 so you can see where this would really benefit me. No more throwing out spoiled fruit because I ran out of time to eat it. No more wasting money on fruits that I have to throw away. And lastly, I get a great tasting fruit snack that provides me with a full serving of fruit! Here are the flavors I got to try:

1. Cherry
2. Apricot
3. Banana
4. Apple
5. Pineapple
6. Mangoes

I have to admit my very favorites were the Mango's and the Apple with Apricot being my third favorite. Not that there is anything wrong with the others but because they have Vitamin C or Potassium (banana), I could not eat the others because of my bladder condition. Vitamin C and Potassium irritate my bladder and cause me to burn so I have to be very careful with those particular vitamins. But, my husband, loved the bananas, pineapple and cherry.

So, it sorta evened out for us. He got to try three and I got to try three. I really loved the Mango's though so I have to admit it was my very best favorite of them all. Everyone is different, we all have different tastes, does not mean that the others weren't just as good. We all don't want to like the same thing because then we would all be boring! That is why we have such a vast supply of various fruits and vegetables to choose from, because we are all unique and different, and that is a great thing.

The apricots were soft and plump while the mango fruit was thinner and a little more crunchy. But I love crunchy so it was perfect for me. I guess that is why I liked the apple also. It was cut into strips or slices with just a tad of crunchy thrown in. Mike said the cherries were also plump and soft while the pineapple was in strips or slices and just a tad crunchy. But banana was his favorite and he said it was also in strips with a slight crunch to them.

Which I should have known it would be his favorite, after all, the man makes banana sandwiches! Who eats banana sandwiches? And he mashes it up with peanut butter to boot! They were all wonderful in their own unique way so there were no losers in the group. My friend and neighbor came over and tasted some of the pineapple and cherries and fell in love with them. Like I said, they were all very good and we could not find anything bad to say about any of the flavors.

We are not the only ones who like them either. I found a section on Peeled Snack's site where they list all the different magazines and media that have tried Peeled Snacks and come to find out this was one of Oprah's favorite snacks! And then I found a section that is called Did You Know, which has alot of fun facts about the different fruits and some were quite hilarious! Then I learned that Starbucks now carries these great peeled snacks in their stores! You can check this store locator for which Starbucks will have them! Wow, so if you somehow miss them in your local store, you can grab a few bags at Starbucks while you get your morning coffee or other drink. You can even go to this section on Peeled Snacks to download a form to take to your local grocery store's manager and see if you can't get them to start carrying Peeled Snacks.

I found out that Peeled Snacks even have their own blog where you can go and learn more interesting things and leave comments or questions you have about their products. Other places that you can find some information is on their Facebook. Or give them a tweet on Twitter or follow their Twitter to see what they are doing or where they might be going in the future. Lastly, I would check out the people who make up Peeled Snacks because they all have interesting life stories to tell. I would highly recommend that it would be worth your time to at least check out Peeled Snacks and see whether or not this alternative to fresh fruit could work in your daily life the way it has worked for me.

I won't give you their whole Mission statement but here is a snippet of what they believe in and what they are trying to accomplish:

We are dedicated to raising awareness through various educational campaigns; our goal is to inform consumers about the impacts of daily dietary choices. Recently, we've partnered with the American Diabetes Association to help families make the best decisions possible about the food they consume. Today Americans face the risk of diabetes and obesity on an alarming scale, due in large part to irresponsible practices of the food industry.

At Peeled Snacks, we promote healthy eating habits as well as strive to use the most environmentally sustainable business practices. We source organic ingredients whenever possible. When organic ingredients aren't readily available, we buy from local farmers and growers. For our product display cases, we use recycled paper. Plus within our daily business operations, we are committed to recycling and minimizing the use of paper. Through our work with Net Impact, we're partnered with hundreds of other companies all dedicated to making sustainable, socially responsible businesses the new standard for the American marketplace.
