Guylian Belgian Chocolate Review & Giveaway **Closed**

I was very excited and so very happy to be accepted by Guylian Artisanal Belgium Chocolate to do a review and giveaway of these wonderful little treasures! I had heard so much about them and had tried to win them several times without too much success so when I finally got word I would be doing a review I was beyond happiness! We love chocolates in this family. I hate to say it but I admit it and we have had our share of chocolates of all forms but Guylian's was really a special treat for us.

Here is what we received:

1. Set of 22 Chocolate Truffles
2. Set of Extra Dark Truffles
3. Several sets Combo (6 ea) Chocolate Truffles
4. Several sets of (2 ea) sample boxes
5. 1 Bar of No Sugar Added Dark Chocolate Bar
6. 1 Bar of No Sugar Added Milk Chocolate Bar

Guylian Chocolates were so very generous in sending all those different types of truffles and bars for us to try and boy, did we try! I think I gained a few pounds while eating all that chocolate so I had to get on my exercise bike and try to balance it all out! First, we tried the white marbled & dark truffles, because I have a fondness of white chocolate and these did not disappoint me in the least. We enjoyed these over a good cup of coffee mixed with hazelnut creamer and boy that was just the right two flavors to put together! You really need to try eating any of Guylian's Chocolate's with a good hot cup of coffee laced with hazelnut! These chocolates melted in our mouths and I made up my mind right then and there to try and hold back and not eat them all at once so that I could savour the flavors for a little bit longer.

Next, to even out all that good sweetness, I tried the Extra Dark Truffles. Wow, they were rich and decadent all on their own! They are made with a 74% dark cocoa shell with the extra dark and decadent chocolate center. I forgot to mention in the previous paragraph that these chocolates are made in small copper kettles exclusively by Guylian Master Chocolatiers. Now, does that not sound impressive or what? These extra dark little seashell chocolates really do live up to their name! I don't drink wine but I can imagine that these would go great with a great red wine and would make the perfect after dinner dessert! I also learned that this chocolate earned the European Three Star Superior Taste Award for 2010 because it earned an almost perfect score for their intense & balanced taste with a lingering flavor. You will not regret at least trying these little gems.

Then we tried the original seashells which are mostly milk chocolate with some white & dark chocolate marbled in. These chocolates are made from 100% pure cocoa butter to form the perfect seashell chocolate that is luxurious and silky smooth, which any chocolate admirer would appreciate. You will have a hard time just eating one! This signature truffle is still made in the small batch copper kettles by the Master Chocolatiers in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium. I did not notice at first but after reading about it on their website, I went back and got a box out and sure enough, there it was! Each piece of chocolate is stamped with the letter G to guarantee that each and every one of their chocolate truffles is made the way that the founders, Guy and Liliane intended. Can you see where they came up with the name, Guylian Chocolates? Kinda cool, huh? Having a chocolate named after you is the ultimate for a chocolate lover.

The last two we tried were the Sugar Free Dark and Sugar Free Milk Chocolate Bars. I was not too sure what to expect from a sugar free chocolate but I was mildly surprised that they did not taste as bad as I had thought a sugar free chocolate would be. That is because they use a healthy and pleasantly sweet alternative to sugar called Maltitol. It is a 100% natural product that comes from natural sources. It has fewer calories than sugar, does not promote tooth decay and will not raise the level of blood sugar, so it is perfect for people with diabetes. And they come in both flavors, Dark and Milk chocolate so you can have a little bit of both worlds. I am here to tell you even though I am not a diabetic, I could eat this chocolate without any problems because it is good enough to taste like the real thing! I am so happy that Guylian Chocolates made something special for people with diabetes so they can enjoy a little taste of heaven also!

I was gonna try and describe to you the truffle center in each chocolate but their description sounded so mouth watering accurate that I decided to quote from their website as to what is in the truffle center:

Another interesting fact I dug up is that Guylian is a major sponsor of Project Seahorse since 1999 and has donated more than $1.5 million. This organization is committed to conservation and sustainable use of the world’s coastal marine ecosystems. Saving the seahorses means saving our seas! I love to learn new and interesting things about a company because it makes me feel a little like a friend I am investing my money in when I decide to buy their product. Lastly here is how the two founders of Guylian came to be:
Guy Foubert was a passionate Belgian Chocolatier making handmade chocolate truffles in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium. In 1958, Guy and Liliane joined their names, both in marriage and in their company name creating Chocolaterie Guylian; a small, artisanal chocolate maker. I hope you give this company and their wonderful chocolates a try because you won't be sorry you did. I sorta put most of the history in with my review so I don't need to repeat it again. I know I used a different format this time but without knowing how it all came to be the story would not have meant as much so I hope you enjoyed hearing about the people who make up Guylian Artisanal Belgian Chocolates and what they taste like!

I signed up for their newsletter because just hearing them described in your review made my mouth water,lol:)I love chocolate,but I'm hypoglycemic so I have to be really careful with my diet.Hearing that have sugar free chocolates that taste great thrilled me!! My entire family loves chocolate,especially the fancy one's,but they don't taunt me because I have to watch them eat them,lol:)I keep a few pieces of regular chocolate on hand for when my sugar bottoms out.The experience is horrible,but I enjoy the chocolate:).These are definitely chocolates I think my family would love!!Thanks for the opportunity to try some for free!!:)
