Erin Baker's Wholesome Baked Goods Review


 
I got to try Erin Baker's Wholesome Baked Goods recently and I must admit they were alot better than I had anticipated. I was a little nervous about getting them because I am not a 100% vegan person or 100% organic, although, I am inching that way a little at a time. So, I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw some old favorites that I felt pretty sure I would like.

Here is what I got to review:

1. Oatmeal Raisin Breakfast Cookie
2. Gingerbread Breakfast Cookie
3. Fruit & Nut Breakfast Cookie
4. Pumpkin Spice Breakfast Cookie
5. Double Chocolate Chunk Cherry Breakfast Cookie
6. Homestyle Granola in Fruit & Nut

I went for the Oatmeal Raisin first as it is one of my favorite cookies and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted. Of course, it is not like the regular Oatmeal Raisin cookie, but close enough that it would be worth giving up some of the fat & calories in a regular cookie to gain the all natural no trans fat version of Erin Baker's Oatmeal Raisin.

Each of her breakfast cookies is packed with protein, antioxidants, fiber and complex carbs to help us get a good start on our mornings when we don't have time for a sit down traditional breakfast.

Next, I tried the original breakfast cookie, Fruit & Nut. I liked it also because of the walnuts, California raisins and dried apricots (one of my favorite fruits). By the way, I popped my cookies in the microwave for a few seconds just to warm them up a little bit and boy, did they taste much better!

When I first got the Breakfast Cookies it said on the package to freeze them to keep the freshness but I knew I was going to be eating them fast enough that they would not spoil so I kept them in the fridge instead. But if you get alot of them I would recommend freezing them to keep them fresh.

I tried the Pumpkin Spice next and I love pumpkin anything but since it has a high level of potassium, I am not suppose to have too much of it because of my Interstitial Cystitis (causes bladder pain if you get too much potassium).

So, I could only take a few itty bitty bites, enough to know it was very good.

I then passed it on to my friend and she said it was really good, too!

I also had to let her take the Gingerbread Breakfast Cookie because after one itty bitty bite it kinda burned my tongue a tad and I knew I better not eat much of that either. (have to stay away from spicy foods also, especially ginger as it will cause burning & pain also in the bladder).

So, this holiday season, I am basically screwed on all the good desserts! But, my friend really enjoyed the Gingerbread Cookie and she said it was too bad I could not enjoy it with her as I would have liked it. Did I mention that each cookie is made with 18g of Whole Grains?

Then I tried the Double Chocolate Chunk Cherry Breakfast Cookie. Normally, I love anything chocolate but not with cherries. I have never been one of those who likes chocolate covered cherries. You know, that is one candy that either you really love it or you really hate it. I won't say I hate it but it would be on the bottom of my list.

I was able to save the day, though, because my husband loves chocolate covered cherries so he got to try the last breakfast cookie. And wouldn't you know, he said it was pretty good to be a healthy kind of cookie! Gotta love the man! My friend was able to get a piece of that one, too and she agreed that it was actually better than she thought it would be. I found out while they were eating (I read the ingredients while they chomped down) and their cookies are sweetened with fruit puree. So, while they ate, I learned more about the cookies.

My very last product to try was the Homestyle Fruit & Nut Granola. I actually took the granola and mixed it in with my oatmeal and it was one of the best tasting bowls of Oatmeal I have had in a long time! I love oatmeal but it can get boring after awhile so I was excited to find something I could mix in with it to make it slightly crunchy. I found out that they sweeten the granola with honey which added a nice flavor to my bowl of oatmeal.

They have other kinds of cookies such as peanut butter, mocha cappuccino (I would have loved this one!), chocolate chunk raisin, double chocolate chunk, caramel apple, morning glory and banana walnut. I bet the caramel apple was pretty good, too. You can also get a sampler pack which includes all of the flavors.

The Limited Edition is their holiday sampler which includes the Chocolate Chunk Cherry, Pumpkin Spice and Gingerbread. You can also get some of the flavors in their mini version if you are trying to cut calories or on a diet. While looking around I found out that they also have 2 kinds of brownie bites, chocolate chip and classic walnut.

I bet those were delicious, too! Besides the Fruit & Nut Granola that I tried they also have an Ultra Protein Granola which I guess would be great for athlete's or anyone working out and getting in shape.

I found out alot of information on Erin Baker's company that you really should check out. It was too long for me to even try to decide which charities she endorses or is a part of so you can check it out on this page and see all the awesome things her company does. These look delicious and I would definitely have the pumpkin cookie with my cup of tea in the morning. There are so many varieties to chose from and with whole grain and all wonderful ingredients you can't go wrong eating these.
